20-10-2008 - 3rd U/S (20 Weeks)

My mood while writing this blog: Relieved + Happy

So today I had my 20 week scan. I was so nervous about it!! Drank 1 1/2 pints of water an hour before the appointment..BUT the scanning equipment had broken down earlier in the day so there was a backlog of women with very full bladders needing scans so I ended up having to wait for almost an hour to be seen. I seriously thought that my bladder would explode!!

After the wait, we went into the room + as soon as the radiographer put the probe thingy on my tummy, there was Fig - looking so big + cute! If the woman had taken a picture then, it would have been perfect. You could see the arms + legs + baby's gorgeous head. But she had to perform the investigation bit first! Measured baby's head circumference first - 180mm (20w3d), then the diameter - 50mm (21w), abdominal circumference - 155mm (20w2d) + femur length - 34mm (20w4d). So baby is measuring just in line with my due date :) Checked the heart, kidneys, stomach, bladder, spine, arms + legs..+ some other things that I couldn't understand, all were present + looking good! So happy! Although the radiographer did say that baby was a "little sod" + would be a right character as he/she was getting in the wrong positions for her to examine all the bits + pieces. I guess me + James are a bit strange anyway, so the kid doesn't really stand a chance! :) When it came to getting some pics, Fig just wouldn't co-operate so we haven't come away with the best images but one of them is very cute. Will post them when I get the chance to scan in!
