28-1-2009 - 7th Midwife Appt + 4th Antenatal Class (34 weeks) FineMy mood while writing this blog:
Fine

Had my 34 weeks check up this morning and all appears well. Measuring 34cm and baby's heartrate is 130-140. The midwife checked the baby's position today and firstly said that she could feel the head low down and it felt like the baby had started to descend. Then when she poked and prodded a little more, she was unsure as to whether that was the baby's head or arse! Which I felt was a little insulting to Baby Fig! She's written '? breech' in my notes and said that she will check the position again in 2 weeks time so hopefully baby's body parts will be a bit easier to identify by then! If baby is breech, I'll have to have a positioning scan at 37 weeks but after that, I'm not sure what happens! I know there is plenty of time for baby to flip if he/she is breech, I'm just so worried that they'll try + manually move the baby round (which to me, sounds horrific!) I think I'd rather have a C-section!! I think I'm getting carried away..I'm sure it won't come to that! :)

Also had my last antenatal class this afternoon. It was just with the health visitor and physio. The HV discussed cot death + prevention, post-natal depression and the visiting patterns of the midwives and health visitors once the baby is born. She also told us that when the last baby of the group to be born is 6 weeks old, there will be a post-natal reunion, which will be a nice chance for us to meet again + meet all the babies!

Hope you are all well.

Take care

Becca x

Don't fret just yet. If the baby is breech, there are exercises you can try at home to try and turn the baby yourself. And that's so neat that you're going to have a baby reunion! I'm jealous lol

Don't worry I had my 36 week appointment yesterday and the baby has only just turned to be head down so your baby will hopefully do the same. My baby is apparently laying back to back with me which means a slower birth so I'm hoping she will flip over soon. Her head isn't yet engaged so I reckon I'll be one of the ove due mothers :( I finally have everything for the baby's room now and so excited. Hope your well x

I'm sure little Fig is head down and bum up and if not, as you say, plenty of time yet to turn. My Obs said that J.J was head down but over to my right side! This didn't surprise me as quite often i feel a pressure over there and nothing much on my left side. Hmmm...i'm convincing myself now too that i'll need a C-section if JJ doesn't move his/her little arse over!
That will be great to meet up with all the new mums once you've had your babies. My pregnancy yoga class is like that but they only do the reunion in December so J.J will be about 9 months by then!
