15-5-2009 - Ben 4 - 8 weeks

My mood while writing this blog: So happy!

I'm attempting to remember what has gone on over the last month + a bit! I've got myself a scrapbook, which I should really start soon so blogging on here will help me to think of things to put in the book!

Well Ben gave me his first smile when he was 4 weeks and 1 day old. We were in my room + he'd just woken up from a nap. I was chatting away to him + he just looked up + grinned. It was amazing. So rewarding after all the sleepless nights, sore boobs + lack of food (due to just not having time to eat!)

I gave him his first bottle of expressed breastmilk when he was 4 weeks old. He took to it really well + I would definitely recommend the ‘Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature’ bottles for combining breast + bottle feeding.

Ben discovered his hands at 5 weeks + now he can’t stop chewing on them! It’s so cute + he settles himself by doing it. At 6 weeks, he slept through the night – I put him down between 8-9pm + he wakes at 6am. Although since travelling away for the weekend, he has been sleeping less during the night but hopefully once he gets back into a routine things will settle.

He’s so calm in the evenings, we even managed to take him to the pub with us at 6 weeks! He slept the entire time while we caught up with our friends!

We had our Doctors check up when Ben was 7 weeks and everything was fine – apart from this damn thrush which is still on his tongue, despite several courses of medicine!!! GRRR. Can’t believe I’m still bothering to breastfeed! Probably because his weight gain has been so good + he does enjoy feeding. Poor little man must be so uncomfortable though – I imagine thrush on the tongue can’t be pleasant!
