27-8-2009 - Ben 16 - 24 weeks The usualMy mood while writing this blog:
The usual

Hi everyone

I haven't written anything for a while so thought I should whilst it is (fairly) fresh in my mind!

Ben coped well with his last set of injections (for a year, at least!) at 16 weeks. The calpol knocked him out over night so we were both happy!

At 17 weeks, he started to roll over and back again. I was so excited! I couldn't believe he had done it. Once he had acquired this skill, he was rolling around constantly! I even got him undressed for a bath, left the room + when I came back his little naked bum was in the air! So cute!

He had a trip to A+E when he was 18 weeks. My brother accidently dropped Ben + he hit his head on a ceramic plant pot. I turned into a very paranoid mummy + rushed him to the children's hospital! They checked him over + thankfully, he was fine. Just a little bump. My brother handles him a lot more carefully now!!

I began putting Ben into his door bouncer at 19 weeks - he absolutely loves it! He's forever standing up when anybody holds him, which usually results in a few bruised thighs so its nice to be able to put him in the bouncer where he can jump as much as he likes!

I got him weighed at 20 weeks - 18lb 7oz - the piggy!! I had to start putting him into 6-9 month clothes! I couldn't believe it! It was a good excuse to go + do some more baby clothes shopping though :) This week he also started to pull his socks off - much to his amusement when I have to keep picking them up off of the ground! He had his first drink of water from a cup, but still needs tempting to have it! He started to screach a lot + chat all of the time. I love listening to him babble on! I finally finished the essay that I started while I was pregnant! I had spent a few days doing it when I was 38+ weeks + then Ben arrived at 39 weeks so I gave up on it for a few months!

At 22 weeks, Ben started to pull up to standing. He loves playing that game with his Grandad - he looks so proud of himself! He also seemed to be in pain this week. I put it down to teething + got him some homeopathic teething granules, which did a great job! I decided to start weaning Ben at 22 weeks. He had started to wake for a feed during the night + given his size, I thought it best to give him solids. He gobbled down the baby rice so over the next few days I introduced sweet potato, carrot, apple and banana. He really enjoys meal times!

I started to leave Ben with his grandparents (James's parents) at 23 weeks for one day a week. It was hard at first but it was also nice to be able to get on with all the things I can't do when Ben is around! (Ben is round there as I type! Hence the update!) He also started to sit propped up with pillows this week. I got some lovely photos of him surrounded by his toys!

James and I took Ben swimming for the first time at 24 weeks - he really enjoyed splashing + didn't mind being dunked a few times! He started to sit up without any support. He has grown so much! I took Ben to be weighed this week + he tipped the scales at 19lb 8oz! He will be in 9-12 month clothes in the next couple of weeks I think! Eeek!! I started him on 2 meals of solids a day (breakfast + lunch), which wasn't a problem for the little pie (although he really HATES broccoli - I've been hiding it in sweet potato!)

Sorry for the long blog - 8 weeks of information is difficult to condense! :)

Hope you + your babies / bumps are well. Chat soon.

Becca x

Lovely to read your update. Sounds like your loving being Ben's Mum!! He sounds like a big boy :) Nora has been on the 25 percentile for months and when she was weighed last week was only 15ilbs 7. I always worry she's not eating enough when I hear about other people's babies but I guess everyone is different. She's loving her food, she has chicken for the 1st time yesterday and wolfed it down. Like Ben Nora loves her baby bouncer and loves standing, roling around and does a weird kinda crawl. I can't believe how grown up they are. I love the age she's at now, I love hearing her screech with laughter and smile when she see's me. I can't wait till she says something recognisable. Has Ben said anything yet? So you must be back at Uni soon? Are Ben's grandparents looking after him? I'm going to be home until Feb, but started looking at nursery's. I'm not looking forward to leaving her but I know she'll be fine and I'm sure I'll cope. Anyway love to you and Ben x
