| 27-8-2009 - Ben 16 - 24 weeks | My mood while writing this blog:The usual |
Hi everyone
I haven't written anything for a while so thought I should whilst it is (fairly) fresh in my mind!
Ben coped well with his last set of injections (for a year, at least!) at 16 weeks. The calpol knocked him out over night so we were both happy!
At 17 weeks, he started to roll over and back again. I was so excited! I couldn't believe he had done it. Once he had acquired this skill, he was rolling around constantly! I even got him undressed for a bath, left the room + when I came back his little naked bum was in the air! So cute!
He had a trip to A+E when he was 18 weeks. My brother accidently dropped Ben + he hit his head on a ceramic plant pot. I turned into a very paranoid mummy + rushed him to the children's hospital! They checked him over + thankfully, he was fine. Just a little bump. My brother handles him a lot more carefully now!!
I began putting Ben into his door bouncer at 19 weeks - he absolutely loves it! He's forever standing up when anybody holds him, which usually results in a few bruised thighs so its nice to be able to put him in the bouncer where he can jump as much as he likes!
I got him weighed at 20 weeks - 18lb 7oz - the piggy!! I had to start putting him into 6-9 month clothes! I couldn't believe it! It was a good excuse to go + do some more baby clothes shopping though :) This week he also started to pull his socks off - much to his amusement when I have to keep picking them up off of the ground! He had his first drink of water from a cup, but still needs tempting to have it! He started to screach a lot + chat all of the time. I love listening to him babble on! I finally finished the essay that I started while I was pregnant! I had spent a few days doing it when I was 38+ weeks + then Ben arrived at 39 weeks so I gave up on it for a few months!
At 22 weeks, Ben started to pull up to standing. He loves playing that game with his Grandad - he looks so proud of himself! He also seemed to be in pain this week. I put it down to teething + got him some homeopathic teething granules, which did a great job! I decided to start weaning Ben at 22 weeks. He had started to wake for a feed during the night + given his size, I thought it best to give him solids. He gobbled down the baby rice so over the next few days I introduced sweet potato, carrot, apple and banana. He really enjoys meal times!
I started to leave Ben with his grandparents (James's parents) at 23 weeks for one day a week. It was hard at first but it was also nice to be able to get on with all the things I can't do when Ben is around! (Ben is round there as I type! Hence the update!) He also started to sit propped up with pillows this week. I got some lovely photos of him surrounded by his toys!
James and I took Ben swimming for the first time at 24 weeks - he really enjoyed splashing + didn't mind being dunked a few times! He started to sit up without any support. He has grown so much! I took Ben to be weighed this week + he tipped the scales at 19lb 8oz! He will be in 9-12 month clothes in the next couple of weeks I think! Eeek!! I started him on 2 meals of solids a day (breakfast + lunch), which wasn't a problem for the little pie (although he really HATES broccoli - I've been hiding it in sweet potato!)
Sorry for the long blog - 8 weeks of information is difficult to condense! :)
Hope you + your babies / bumps are well. Chat soon.
