My mood while writing this blog: In LOVE :) |
HI MOMMIES!!!!!
Ok, Veyana will be a MONTH old (already!) on Saturday and she is a great baby. I just have some questions that I know you more experienced Mommies can help me with....
1. What can i do for gas? I have the Mylicon infant gas drops, and they work sometimes, but she's still a gassy lil thing and gas makes her fuss when shes pooting... any recommendations?
2. What can i do for dry skin on her scalp? Its not very bad and its not cradle cap, its just a little dry skin, what should i do?
3. What can I do for baby chapped lips?
4. Ok, she is a great sleeper, but she is stuck on this schedule for some reason, she wont fall asleep for the night til between 1 and 2 am, which is frustrating cuz i wish it was like 11 or at the latest midnight.. But the great thing is if she falls asleep at 1:30 she'll sleep til 6:30, ill feed and change her and she'll go back to sleep til 9:30, then today i fed and changed her at 9:30 and she went BACK to sleep til 12:30, that was amazing :) but how do I change her schedule so she falls asleep between 11 and midnight?
5. Last question: how much do you feed a 1 month old? My breastmilk never came fully in so i'm retiring my pump at the end of the month and switching exclusively to formula, and tried a bunch of different kinds, now im on Similac Alimentum (28$ a can!) but it works great for her which is great, but how many ounces do you feed a 1 month old baby? I been doing 3 oz every 2-3 hours except at night she'll sleep a little longer so its a little less frequent. Ladies, advice please?
Thanks for your help mommies, i LOVE motherhood i'm dreading going back to work :( Love you all XOXO!!!

Wednesday, 2 Sep 1. How often do you give her the Mylicon drops. I give my little one gas drops with every bottle. He used to suffer with gas when he was on a soy formula. He is now on Alimentum, the same as your baby. I also tried the gripe water. Also, I went thru a few different kinds of bottles, but I have finally settled on the Playtex drop ins. Also, since we have the powdered milk, I don't shake my baby's bottle to mix the formula. I only stir it. I bought this baby poweder formula stirrer from baby depot for $4. Its great because it eliminates the air bubble because when you shake your babies bottle and you see all those air bubbles. All of those air bubbles are going into your baby and that is nothing but gas. 2. Use the baby oil gel. 3.Aquaphor or vaseline. 4. I go back to work next week and I'm trying to get my baby on some type of schedule, so I'm going to take the advice that they are giving you. 5. You feed them until they are full. They will let you know because they will stop sucking or spitting milk back out their mouth. My little one was taking 4 ounces of milk when he was 1 month old. Jmajor-payne -
Friday, 28 Aug Hey girl well lets see how I can help u and answer some of these questions!!1. Well you could call her doc and ask what u can do also...but I know I gave my mylicon and swaddled them real tight and they slept or you can try putting a little Karo syrup in her bottles it will make her pooping a lil easier.2. dry skin you can use the baby oil gel I like the lavendar or they have a new scent with shea butter that could really help...3. chapped lips put a lil vasoline on them and now it even comes in a tube at walmart and its like $1.22 or $1.27. get a routine going an give her a good warm bath(the bedtime lavendar is the best...that stuff really works) and bottle at like 10 11 at night and just start a routine she will adapt and dont worry ppl tried to tell me I was crazy to put a infant on a schedule if u dont u will get nothing done...learned that from my mom, and if she sleeps too long during the day wake her up make her play its alot but it gets so much easier as she adapts! and u will have time to do what u need to do.5. 2-3hrs is pretty good for a 1 month old now if she a greedy baby you could bump that to 4oz and see how she does every 3hrs it might hold her a lil longer...but yea that ALimentum is expensive THANK GOD FOR WIC...do u get it? If not u should apply for it!! Its a huge help!Well I hope this helps u some!! TTYS 4girlsandaangel -

Thursday, 27 Aug 1. For gas since there are still too young to really give them anything for it my friend taught me a trick u lay the baby on her tummy over ur knee and rub there back that helped alot with lucy cuz she farted her butt off wen i used to do that, wen they eat making sure they dont have too air coming and and burp them for awhile after they eat.2. use baby oil and baby lotion, i have a mixed baby andi dot put nothang in her hair but johnsons n my child gots a head full of hair gurl lolz yup she be drappin now i did baby lotion everytime after bath and oil wen it was dry and i comb it out and she has beautiful hair!3. i used vaseline for her lips if they got chapped4. swaddle her, even tho my baby is a one year old if she has trouble sleep even up to this day i swaddle her alot of baby like it too wen you tap the bottom a lil very lighty its comforting for them5. 3 oz sounds good thery should still take a small amount i know they start goin up the oz very fast wen lucy got to 3 months the formula wasnt holding on her tummy and my gma was like gurl give that baby some cereal lolz so i started to add a lil cereal to her milk at 3.5 month and at 4 months we was on stage one which i did get a ok from my baby doc! but at 5 months she was already wante 6 oz and my doc was like no no no no no that is way too much for her. so i would stay at a small amount and just stick to every 3 hours and if something seems weird ask your doc or go with your own instinct.and good luck with your baby hair gurl we moms gotta of these mixed baby gotta stick together for advice cuz you nenver know how there hair will turn out in texture wise lolz so far lucy baby hair grew out and she got str8 up mexican hair and it is super curly and long so i wonder how your baby hair will be good luck adn take care! babywest -
Thursday, 27 Aug P.S. I forgot to tell you that my baby eats 3 ounces every 3 hours, but there is also a little bit of cereal in it to thicken it because she has a little bit of reflux babywest -
Thursday, 27 Aug Im a first mom too, but here are a cpl things that ppl have passed to me. My baby is mixed also and from the pics they look like they have similar hair textures. My boyfriends mom told me to put baby oil in her hair to moisturize it and her scalp. I dont do it every night....probably about 3 times a week. I bathe her, put the oil in her hair and brush it through and she has not had a dry scalp to this day! My baby had issues with gas so they switched her to soy formula which tore her up!! She didnt poop for a cpl days and would scream and thrash around (AWEFUL!!) so we switched her back to milk based but she is on Similac Sensitive Stomach and it has helped quite a bit. She still gets fussy in the evening so I give her a warm bath....she loves it so i let her soak for a few minutes instead of taking her right out. I also use the Lavender Bedtime Bath....she is so soothed and calm when she gets out its amazing! As far as the nighttime schedule.....if you find something that works please let me know!!! Thursday, 27 Aug i am not a mother to my own but took care of my younger brother and have 3 god daughters that i take care of from time to time....gas u can give her a quarter piece of peppermint in a bottle of water it should calm down her tummy also a warm bath should help....alot of people use baby oil for the dry scalps or even baby lotion....dont know about the chapped lips other then get some unscented chap stick and put it on ur finger and then her lips it is not toxic....keep her awake during the day longer so she will sleep between the hrs u want her to.....for formula give her 4 oz every 4 to 5 hrs and if she wants more take it up to 5 oz or you can jut make 5 oz the first time and let her eat until she is content. hope i helped and again i know i am not a mother but been around enough of them to know a little bit lol and i just ask my mom if i dont know lol good luck hun
