09-5-2008 - UPDATE on Presley

Hi mommies! Please forgive me for not responding to any post lately. I have been super busy. Presley is having a lot of awake time lately, so he keeps me very busy. I have also been dealing with a sinus infection, so I try to get as much sleep as possible. On top of all that I have been working over time to get my milk supply up. I have had a breast reduction, so I have been working with a lactaion specialist. So, basically our feeding consist of 10 minutes in each breast. Then he gets his bottle to supplement. Then I have to pump for 15 minutes. I am so unbelievably exhausted, but I am just not ready to give up yet. Our feedings take a little bit over an hour. I feel like all do is feed!! This morning when I did a milk check I actually got 2 oz!! PRAISE GOD! I love nursing him and having that special time with him. So, please say some prayers for me. I am also taking Blessed Thistle and Fenugreek to help my supply.
Presley did have his 2 week newborn scan today. My boy weighs a whole 10lbs!!!! Can you believe it?!?!?! He has already changed so much. They also did some blood work where they poke his heel then fill in the 5 circles with his blood. This about killed me and seemed like it took forever to do. This was the first time I ever heard him really cry loud.
Tonight we are going out to my brothers for dinner. It has been so nice, because the church has been bringing us meals each night since I gave birth, so that has helped out BIG time. Though sad to say my mom is leaving us this weekend. She has been here for two weeks and it has been wonderful. Now she only lived 2 minutes away, but I love having her here. I never thought I'd say this, but even my hubby does not want her to go. He is seriously distraught over it and has been trying to bribe her to stay. LOL!!
My poor hubby is totally wiped out and now all the sudden wants to find a new job. He has been self employed for over 10 years and the Lord has blessed us. Though Colin works 24-7 and cell phone is always ringing. Now he has decided that he would rather have an 8-5 job, so he could spend more time with his family. I am just praying that whatever God's will is for him that it be done. So, any prayers would be much appreciated!!
I have totally just written a novel, but this is truly the only contact I have had with the outside world. I miss all of you! I love you all and I am going to catch up on all my posts this weekend!

I remember VERY clearly feeling like that is all I did was nurse -- and I did not pump or anything. It is just par for the course when they are tiny. As he grows (and he certainly is doing THAT! LOL) your two bodies will move into sync and you will make beautiful music together. I admire you for persevering and working so hard. Know that it truly IS worth it!

I will be praying for you in that and for Colin's new desire for a different job. I think his words are precious: they have wisdom and love in them. May God provide just the right timing and the right avenues for you. It is so good to have husbands we can trust! I realize what a gift that is...

Happy first Mother's Day to you! It is a late greeting (we were actually in Texas! Good grief! What HEAT!!!) but still very heartfelt! :0)

Great to hear from you.
I am so happy that bf'g is looking good for you, if you want, you can check out my blog on bf'g, it might give you a few pointers, these are all things that I decided to put down that have worked for me.
Don't worry about not being on so much hun, we are all mothers and understand the commitment and responsibility you now have, and how tiring mothering a newborn can be, so please, don't feel you hve to apologise, it simply isn't necessary;)
I am so happy that Presley has made such a big gain, wow! 10lbs, he must be such a chubby bubby, I would love to squeeze those cheeks, hehe.
Looks like there maybe some change to your lifestyles, with Colin maybe looking at a 9-5 job. Good on him for thinking of you guys, that is a precious thing to have a husband so caring, you are truly blessed sweetheart.
I am so glad too, that your church has been bringing around meals, that is something that I would dearly love, and need, with so many people to feed, that is a very thoughtful thing that your church is doing, good on them!
Anyway sweetheart, I better away, I am in my last 10 days of pregnancy, hopefully!! hehehe, and just waiting for the big event now.
Hopefully I will catch up with you before Eden arrives, if Idon't, know that I love you too, and a big cuddle from your Kiwi friend
