23-7-2008 - YouTube has alot to answer for! Not happy!!My mood while writing this blog:
Not happy!!

Let me start by first saying that I am an intelligent 33 year old professional woman, who has more than one University diploma on her wall, and has travelled the world to many places. I am not naive, stupid nor am I under any disillusionment about child birth, but have any of you looked at some of the birth videos on YouTube?!? Oh. My. God!!

Where is the censorship?? Or at least the kind-hearted soul who warns first time pregnant mothers not to watch certain videos. Don’t get me wrong, some of them on there were absolutely beautiful, and oh how I pray that the birth of our little butterbean goes like that, but there are some that are downright awful!

Granted also, they were older videos that were shot mainly in foreign countries, but good lord, the scene where the doctor puts two hands in this woman’s hoo-hoo and pulls it apart before baby was even crowning had me swooning in my office chair, not to mention the baby in China that was born and then thrown (and I do mean thrown!) onto the scales for weighing had butterbean up in arms as well (got what felt like a severe poke in the kidneys).

I sit here now, watching as the minutes tick toward 5pm and I can leave the office in good conscience, wishing that I could take a few shots of Passionfruit flavoured Vodka (mmmmmm..... passionfruit flavoured vodka...) just to calm my nerves, but knowing that I can't and won't!

I am not normally one that sanctions censorship, but in the case of some of those videos, a viewers discretionery warning would help nervous first time mums like myself. So ladies, I say, watch those videos, but be careful... some of them will scare the living bee-jeezes out of you!

You're so funny! I laughed while reading your blog (even though I know this is very serious stuff! ha ha). STOP watching all of those horrifying videos and just stick with imagining the grand prize at the end of this pregnancy journey!! Don't torcher yourself anymore than neccesary!! Thanks for the good laugh and in all seriousness, I hope that you are feeling great. I've never given birth before, but it's got to be worth it in the end.......like I said, just keep your eyes on the prize! Tonya

Ha!! I'm glad I didn't watch youtube when I was pg with my daughter. I had a c-section , though. And let me tell you--a c-section is a piece of cake.
