15-7-2008 - Anelise Update

My mood while writing this blog:
Very happy!

Hi Everyone.....

Sorry if you are reading this twice cuz I posted this thought in the 40 weeks page as well!

Crazy that today is Anelise's original due/birth date! I can't believe it's been 3 months since I've had her and 5 weeks since I've had her home. Her Drs will now start to track how she developes and reaches her milestones based on today's date. She is technically 0 days old today! She's about 6.6 pounds now and thriving. She still goes to the eye dr every 2 weeks because her eyes are immature, and she has slight ROP (had another app today). The dr is 99.9% sure it will correct itself. Still on the monitor...but it's been quiet for 2 weeks now. Hope you all are enjoying your new bundles of love...and for those of you who haven't given birth yet...any minute now.....hang in there!

PS-I'm getting use to waking every 3 hours to feed her during the night...but by day...I'm dragging my ass around. I have come fond of the nap...lol. My little girl is a night person...I think she has her days and nights confused...cuz during the day she sleeps in 4-5 hours shifts and I can not force her to stay awake to be tired at night. This has got to change before I go back to work on Sept 3rd. Yeah, right. In a perfect world...maybe.....hehehe.

I am glad to hear things are going well. My little one has been doing well at night. He eats at 8 then midnight and 3 or 4am so I am getting some sort of sleep, but I am still tired. Try giving her a bath at bedtime, that usually helps them sleep really good, that is what i did last night and he slept from 8-12 and I fell asleep around 10 and those two hours of sleep were great, it felt like an 8 hr sleep. Well good luck.

Wow, can't belive she's 3 months old... i guess my little girl is 2 and a half month behind Analise.. hee. thanks for the input, glad she's growing and hope everything is well with you...

Hang in there! One of our NICU nurses told us that it is UNFORTUNATELY very common for preemies to be more nocturnal. Most of the testing that's done on our little ones is at night and the nurses like to hold them at night too. It was hard to go to work with Gage waking up what felt like every 2 hours but I promise it will get better. It took a LONG time to get Gage sleeping more at night but eventually it did happen. Just try and take naps when you can and if people ask if there's anything they can do LET THEM-that's where I made my mistake so many friends and family offered help and I know they would have been happy to come by and sit with the baby while I took a nap.

I'm happy to hear that she is doing so well and adjusting to being home. It's crazy to think that she would just be entering the world now-what a fighter you have. We are truly BLESSED with very special miracles.
