| 13-11-2008 - Update | My mood while writing this blog:relieved |
Had a doctor appointment today.
Everything is great! My cervix has no change, which is normal for me. Blood pressure is good, baby's heartrate is good! He did an u/s and baby is definitely HEAD DOWN!!! Whoo Hoo!!
He wrote me a prescription for an antibiotic for Group B Strep, I can take one as soon as I know that I am in labor. The IV antibiotics are best, but there is no guarantee that I will have enough time to get the IV before the baby is born. So taking one by mouth is better than nothing, supposedly anyway. With Elliana I took one by mouth, but it still didn't have time to get into my system before she was born.
I also talked to him about a birth plan. I didn't make one this time, b/c I have made one the last 2 babies and no one ever looks at it once labor starts. So this time I just told him a few things, and he has asked me to write them down. I told him that I do not want pitocin, I want to be able to move around and use my birthing ball, and I do not want him to break my water. He agreed to all of this!!! And he told me that I could use the shower!!
However, if I get an epidural (I do not plan to), and pitocin is needed then it will be given then. He said that usually he breaks the water when he induces to get labor going better, but unless medically necessary I will not be induced. He also said that if my water were to break on its own then I have to stay in bed on the monitors b/c of the concern of a prolapsed cord. I am going to be writing down my wishes though and we will see if they are followed or not.
I have to be honest, I am very nervous about giving birth without pain relief, I have only done this one other time and it was only b/c we didn't make it to the hospital in time...lol! But I know that it is possible and that it is what is best for the baby and me, so I am going to give it my all! Prayers would def. be appreciated though!!
