09-7-2008 - Lunch Meat...

My mood while writing this blog:
Hungry

Well everyone I must say i crave crave crave Lunch meat and not jsut any lunch meat, those bolgani shaped lunch meat but in turkey and ham. MMMMM the only problem is i heard your suppose 2 heat all your lunch meats up and the thought of that grosses me out i dont want it all hot thats the point of lunch meat.... SO my question is does anyone know if its like a huge deal if i eat this delicious sandwitch i made today or is this something i should be more careful about ?? Let me know what you all think cause im starving :)!!!

i had the SAME problem! i was craving lunch meat from day 1, but they scare the bejeezes out of you about not eating it, so i stayed away or would heat it up. you're right its not the same when its hot, you dont always WANT a hot sandwich! but my sis, mom, other girls on here, AND the nurses i work with said it was ridiculous and they all ate it. one girl said she doesnt pay attention to those warnings bc when she was pg in 2003 they said pg girls cant eat eggs! weird, so i gave in to the wonderful deliciousness and had one sandwich everyday for 2 weeks straight!! :p
so far so good

I stressed about the whole lunch meat thing at the beginning of my pregnancy cuz that's all I wanted to eat and it says everywhere that you can get listeria or whatever. It really isn't a big deal. They say that if you're gonna eat it, you should have the deli shave off fresh meat for you cuz the stuff already sitting out and the pre-packaged ones have more way bacteria. I eat sandwiches all the freakin time! Yummy!

I think you could buy the lunch meat from a grocery store that looks clean and well lit and the deli guys and girls wear clean gloves and keep the place clean. Also watch them slice the meat for you and have them throw away the first slice that comes off... that should be good enough to get rid of any surface bacteria.

I've never heard of that! And don't feel weird...I've eaten turkey sandwiches just about every day since I found out I was pregnant LOL! The funny thing is that I rarely eat any other meat besides sandwich meat. Anyway, I say keep on eating your sandwich meat (as long as it's fully cooked before it was packaged) and enjoy satisfying those cravings! =)

My doctor told me that you can eat whatever just once and a while. Plus you can buy cooked ham and turkey. Or if its roast beef make sure it is well done. It's cold of course but already cooked :smile I guess every doctor will tell you something different any way.

Oh girl! I say eat the damn sandwich!!! Do you think your mom did that with you or your grandmother with her? ( Heated their meat ) I'm sure they didn't, It definitely would not hurt to eat one sandwich the way you want it!!! I say go for it. You deserve it hun!!!

i know many people who didn't heat there lunch meat and there babies are fine. i crave sandwhichs all the time, and i ate subway alot in the beginning and it wasn't heated. i just wouldnt do it everyday. but every once in awhile is okay. :)

lol. Thats so funny you crave that. I craved roast beef and hotdogs but I always heated them like they said. cold cuts can contain listeriosis. I would say just to be safe to buy deli meat and to heat it.
