03-1-2009 - Visit to the ER ExhaustedMy mood while writing this blog:
Exhausted

This morning I went to the ER because of cramping, combined with diarrhea and nausea I've had for the past couple of days. I've also been having a very difficult time sleeping the past few nights, for an absolute unknown reason. I certainly wouldn't consider myself stressed! We just got back from a relaxing vacation where I had wonderful sleep! Anyway, I got desperate last night and took a remaining Restoril sleeping pill from my bout with insomnia 6 months ago. I woke up with cramping, which scared me, and headed to the ER where at first they couldn't find a heartbeat with the portable fetal doppler, so I had a thorough ultrasound done in radiology. So very happy to see an active baby moving around on the screen, with a heart rate of 175 bpm. I cried because I was so happy to know the baby was okay, and because I felt like I already failed him or her because I took a pill that could cause problems. I also found out that I have yet another new due date of July 9 instead of the 14, which puts me in the second trimester which is a very reassuring feeling for me. I'm not thrilled at the start of the new year, and have been praying to get back to a normal sleep pattern very soon. It was a wake up call for me to not be reckless, which encourages me to grin and bare the situation and realize this is only temporary. I'll get through this.
