| 05-9-2008 - 28 wks | My mood while writing this blog:worried and relieved! |
Had our 28 wk check up today.
The Good news is baby girl is already head down. The bad news is, she's already head down and she dropped. The doctor did an ultrasound to check my cervical length and this is how our conversation went:
MD:This is your cervix. It starts here (points to one end) and ends here (points to the other end)
Me: Rockin.
MD: and this (points to top of cervix) is your baby's head.
Me: Crap.
So she turned and promptly dropped. Yikes. Doctor says my cervix is still nice and long, 4.4cm (it was 4.8 at my last 'big' ultrasound 3 weeks ago) and there is no funneling. So he says he's not too worried, it's just something that we'll have to keep an eye on. Thankfully I see him weekly now, though he said not to hesitate to come in if I thought something was wrong. I knew she would be a headstrong girl, I guess I just underestimated how badly she would want to be the first born!
And on news of baby boy, he's breech and he's sitting on top of his sister. It was really funny looking on the ultrasound. The doctor says he's still got plenty of time to turn, and since baby girl already dropped, he's got a little more room to move around. I'm crossing my fingers that he will follow his sister's lead!
We're still aiming for 36 weeks and the doctor thinks we can make it, as long as my daughter cooperates and doesn't push too hard on my cervix. My husband is telling her to do handstands to get her head off of it!
More to come next week, and the week after that we get another big ultrasound to measure development! Hopefully everyone will cooperate and I won't have to go on bedrest. Cross your fingers for me! :)
