04-9-2008 - Baby Progress

My mood while writing this blog: Ok

Just got back from the doctor! I am 2.5 cm and 70% effaced. He doesn't think I will make it to my appointment next week but if I do then I get another ultrasound to check on baby's size, woohoo! He also mentioned that we don't HAVE to but next week he can send me over to the hospital and 'push my body along' a bit. (inducing) I didn't ask, he brought it up on his own. I think I'd rather wait and let it happen naturally though, she'll come when she's ready. As long as she isn't too big and there aren't any problems, and yes I know this makes me odd because it seems everyone else wants their babies out NOW! lol It was kind of weird having him say he thinks I won't last another week. I've always dilated before my due date, then you walk around thinking "any minute now" for weeks and nothing happens, lol. Now HE is saying "Any minute now" and it's making me wonder if it REALLY is any minute now.

Now hubby is freaking out because he has a big thing at work on Sept 20 and he says I can't go before then. I've already told him he has to miss it if I've had the baby-his job will be staying home taking care of me :p lol I mailed his boss when I sent out the 'family update' (she's a friend of ours and I've included her in all the updates so far), and she mailed me back to say she's going to tell him they will survive without him, hehe!

Now everyone in my family is convinced I am going to go into labor this weekend, but people walk around at 2 cm for weeks :p I thought about NOT telling anyone about my visit because now I will be flooded with phone calls every few mins "How do you feel?"

Also the doc said to go home and have sex and eat eggplant, he said those are the best things to do to naturally start labor and get your body going, although he also kept saying my body is going good on it's own, lol! I've heard of eating eggplant parmesan to start labor so I told him I'd eat chicken parmesan but eggplant is gross, and he said I need the eggplant too. Blechie!

Today is hubby's mom's bday, Sat is his dad's bday, and Saturday we also have a work picnic at the lake. I'm hoping my baby decides to come on her OWN day so she doesn't have to share a birthday. I'm also trying not to think about it too much because if I believe him that she's coming soon, then she won't come for 5 weeks or something crazy! lol

Wow, you really are almost there! I have two weeks to go. I'm going to be induced. I'm feeling a bit heavy these days but that's expected!! I think you're right about being able to go for a while with 2 cm but noone really knows for sure 'cause everyone's body is different! Good luck and hang in there. Will be thinking of you and that eggplant!!!

Congrats on the progress girl ! That's what I've been getting! "you in the hospital yet " "How yoi feelin" every hour on the hour! I feel ya on the inducing too. I'm trying wait until she wants to come! ya ready for labor? well good luck!
