26-6-2008 - Le Count-Down CuriousMy mood while writing this blog:
Curious

Well ladies...I finally got word today. We have an official date for when my cerclage will be removed. July 16th at 10am...funny how that's just around the corner, but seems soooooo far away still. I of course had a million and one questions for my pregnancy advocate Robin- "Tell me what you've seen... please" is all I could get out. She started to tell me first of all, don't be afraid- there will be discomfort but just incase other measures need to be taken I shouldn't eat for 8 hours prior to...My first response was, other measures- what does that mean? She told me that sometimes the women just simply can't tolerate the manipulation with the removal and seeing how locals aren't an option a spinal or getting put under completely are the only other alternatives. Ahhhhh- ok that makes sense.

I then asked what happens next after the cerclage comes out- she told me that there is a cervical exam which may be uncomfortable ( to me that says WILL be uncomfortable *wink* ) and if I am dilated to 3cm or more, they will encourage me to walk around to get labor going, if contractions don't start on their own I would get induced. Alright, that makes sense as well. I then realized that if I get induced, my chances of being able to handle those strong contractions may decrease as they did with my previous induction...I ended up asking for pain relief after 14 hours of giving it a good fight. I was planning on this time around to have as natural of a birth as possible. Anyway it's sliced-Nyah will more than likely be born this day...BUT you never know. I may not dilate, I may not get contractions...mayBE maybeNOT.

There's nothing to be upset about, nothing to be panicked about at all. Everything will play out as it was intended. I have to remember that the best way to cope with anything that comes our way is to stay calm and know that no matter what happens I must be strong and rely not only on my faith, but my birthing partner aka husband in addition. I can already tell that he's going to be a good supportive papa- as I wish all women, mothers were blessed to have.

I know that there are other women out there that have cerclages, are in the process of getting them or have had some experience with them-or maybe even knew someone that had. I still wish to hear from you, as your input is important to me-important enough to me that I use it for guidance/reference apply it to my circumstances and then share with others looking for answers.
I will write again soon~
