| 29-8-2008 - 30 week appointment/update | My mood while writing this blog:Tired but Good! |
I had my 30 week appointment this morning (I will be going every 2 weeks for the next month, then on to once a week!). This appointment was very quick! They said that everything looked great--Jack's heartbeat (they didn't tell me a # today), my weight (26 lbs!), my blood pressure (I think 124/80), and the urine dip test all looked great. I had been kind of wondering about the weight, but they said it was what they wanted me to gain (I haven't gained it anywhere else but my belly and I eat healthy--except for the occasional indulgence in ice cream :)--so all is well!) No stretch marks YET (but we'll see before it's all said and done!)
At my last appointment 2 weeks ago--I had my glucose and iron test. I passed the glucose test, but it turns out that I am anemic. SO--they started me on iron pills. I'm really hoping they will make me not so tired! (They told me to get a particular type of over-the-counter iron pills--Tandem. They are supposed to be a bit easier on the digestive system--if you know what I mean!) Jack's heartbeat was 164 bpm, and I had gained a total of 24 lbs!
More news (Surprise!)--I'm a civilian contractor with the National Guard, and our contract was supposed to be up in April. I had been planning on working right up until the baby was born in November and then just stay home with Jack after that. As it turns out, we found out that our contract will be ending on September 30th instead. This isn't QUITE as much of an issue for me as for my other co-workers (as I had only planned to work for about another month after that BUT my insurance is through my company!) We can do COBRA, but it will just be MUCH more expensive! Plus--if I had been able to work up until my due date, then I would have gotten a week's paid vacation! Oh well! God is in control, and everything happens for a reason SO there is no point in worrying about it! Just a bit of surprise!
Last but not least--we had a couple's "baby shower" on Aug. 17th for more of my husband's friends (they wanted to be involved, but you can't really invite them to a typical baby shower SO we ended up having it at a restaurant/pub in Raleigh on a Sunday afternoon. A little unusual but very nice). My "typical" shower (that my mom and mother-in-law are throwing) will be on Sept. 6. Hopefully that will go well! (And it's just 2 days shy of our 1 year anniversary!)
Hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Labor Day!
