09-9-2009 - Measuring surprised...kindaMy mood while writing this blog:
surprised...kinda

Saw another doc in my practice on Tuesday...she measured my belly (which is 47 inches around now) and said I was measuring 2 weeks ahead (which is 39 weeks). She confirmed she expects a 10lb baby, same as the last doc.......the consistency is....um.....reassuring.....alarming......scary.....take your pick!.......He will be a c-section still, mostly now because of his size, since he has already bulldozed his way to dropping and stretching my pelvis enough to probably pass had he decided to be a normal size. Of course, if he was a normal size, he probably would not have been able to get there in the first place. As with all guestimates, they could be wrong and he be around 8lbs like my daughter......but since my husband was a month early and weighed around 9 lbs, and most of his siblings (he is the oldest of 10) are around the 10-11lbs mark, this little boy could be all of that. No one I know who is around me thinks I will last to my c-section date of Sept. 25th.....I think I will, if not for any other reason than I have an art show that my photography is being featured (and hopefully sold) in on the 18th, and my daughters early birthday party is on the 19th. I DH and I need every second we can get to prepare, and as we speak, there is a half painted bedroom upstairs that my DD needs to move into before I can begin on the nursery.........I don't have TIME for him to arrive yet!!...LOL

Kickboxer ~ my husband's brothers are in Florida (17 yrs), Misissippi (34 yrs), Colorado (22 yrs), London (31 yrs), and Iraq (25 yrs). His father and my father are in Florida. We live in Kentucky......no shot of help. Our best friends are preparing for the birth of their twins (6 weeks after us) so they can't help either......*sigh*

Kplum ~ I can't pass a baby out of my pelvis. My birth canal in my pelvis is roughly the size of a cereal bar. SO there is not even talk of VBAC for me, because there is nothing for him to go through. The only progress he has made is to push my pelvis apart with his head, basically like stretching a rubber band between two popsicle sticks. It has taken him 3 months to get this far and his head is wedged in my pelvis. There is no way considering the size of my pelvis that he will go any farther, because his shoulders are caught.

Maybe your DH should have some of his brothers come and help him finish up the house. Just in case. If that little one starts coming early you should be some what prepared. I know this is a little daunting but also very exciting. You must be so excited.

I felt the same way about NEEDING time. I didn't have hardly anything ready by 38 weeks.... I hope he stays put until you need him to come!

Hi. i think I am going to be in your situation at the end of my pregnancy. Babies run big in my family and my baby boy is already measuring in the 86th percentile (and no one in our families are really tall!). So, I am interested to see if you make it to you C-section date. Did they give you the option of having your baby vaginally? or was that out of the question b/c of his size?Good luck!!!
