26-10-2008 - I didn't puke on the Great Wall!

My mood while writing this blog: tired

So i got back from Beijing last night.. Taking that drip was a very very bad idea at this stage of pregnancy.. or maybe it was the company i had.. either way absolutely exhausting.
I left with a friend from Canada who has come to China to visit. He wanted to see the great wall i thought it would be a good oppertunity to take my daughter to the wall too.

First sign of bad things.. No more tours.. all booked up..so we got a hotel/ flight package from Shanghai. Now the flight is only 40 mins., But i'm travalling with my 9 year old daughter who travells very well but is a child.. and a 30 year old Canadian born Chinese who has no patience for children and no idea about kids for that matter either., He complained and told her to settle down i don't know how many times.. when she wasn't doing anythign but entertaining herself.. i don't know what he expected!

So anyways we left on a 8 am flight outta shanghai.. so we were up at 5:30 am.. on the plus sid ei'm a 10 min drive from the domestic airport ( and i don't hear the planes). we get to Beijing about 11.. take the ABC ( Airport Beijing capital) Train to the subway system and found a cab right away which we later learned was very lucky

Got to the hotel.. I WAs starving at this point.. no lunch.. and ate breakfast at 5:30 it's like 1pm now.. so i'm feeling quite sick too.. Now we are staying in this 5 star hotel.. where lunch is $250 cnd.. ummm no! i'm used to eating for maybe $5 max.. we walked around but too touristy no where to eat.. finally at 2:30 we settling on a $10 room service sandwhich and a $20 burger... WHATEVER i was starving.. way over priced especially for china,.

We went to Tian'nimen sqaure which was close and police everywhere.. but we saw! it was too late for forbidden city.. we dicided to venture far to the olympic grounds.. which was cool.. but by the time we got there i was exhausted.. we walked a little.. and took the subway back cause it was rush hour and we figured it would be quicker.. we got ioff early though and wanted to cab it.. took us like 45 mins to find a flippin' cab though!!
it was cold too.. went from a humid 20C in Shanghai to 2C dry Beijing

got back.. Crashed.. woke up at 8:30 to my daughter asking for food.. ordered more room service i couldn't mmove.

Day 2.. We paid $50 each for a great wall tour.. Well this guy decides.. that we are going to climb the wall instead of take the cable car.. i nearly died when we got there and saw what i was to climb.. i told him i couldn't i was pregnant.. there is no way.. it's a challange for a normal person.. never mind tired me..
we went up the lesser of the 2 evils.. I really should have spoke up when he said we werent doing a cable car.. We went to visit the ming Tombs after.. i just slept in the bus with my daughter.. We got back at 6:30 ( we left at 7:30).. i wasn't feeling too bad i had slept 4 hours in the bus aafter climbing stairs for an hour some stairs were as tall as my knees!..We went out with some other people from the tour that were from england and had duck $40 per person.. This trip was killin' my wallet. i feed 3 people every month and buy everything for the house for $500 a month.. Went to hotel Slept

Day 3.. we decided since we were taking a late plane we would sleep in and go see forbbiden city after checking out at noon ( got stuff the make sandwiches from the convinience store and packed from for late).. it was a 20 min walk.. forbbiden city is HUGE!!!.. we walked for 3 hours and still didn't see everything.. we left there.. walked 30 mins to KFC.. cheapest meal the whole trip... but to get to kfc we had to go up and down 3 underground walks cause you can't cross the street at street level.. this almost killed me!.. after kfc it was easier.. cab to the hotel to get our luaggage then cab to the subway to catch the Abc.. but it was an hour ride this time.. they had the hwy closed off for some government economical meeting.. argg..

Got to the airport. wanted to eat something cause th eplane food is intolerable.. just toow eird. Went to starbucks thinking ok expensive but i can get a fruit cup or something other then fried food ot proceeded food. THE ONLY THING THEY HAD WAS A HAM AND CHEESE SANDWICH.. this is what i had for breakfast and snakc.. so other then a wrap at kfc at about 3.. was all i ate.. i wanted to cry...

Got home from beijing the husband picked us up. i think i called him 3-4 timescrying that i can't find proper food and that i was exhausted having hot flashes and cold flashes.. and dealing with my friend and my daughter.. seriously..
Got home said hi to the dog.. it was acting all funny.. this morning was puking and wouldn't eat.. it's got parvo.. so.. now my dog might die on top of everything.. at least the friend i'm currently hosting moved off to hongkong this morning so i have a few free days

i slept all day.. tomorrow i gotta work.. normally i don't work .. and between feeling sick and the dog.. i'm not sure how it will go.. i have to take care of 2-3 year olds all day.. whom don't know me cause i'm subing.. and normally cry at the sight of me.. ( normally i don't mind but the lack of energy and good mood today is scaring me for the day ahead)
