24-4-2009 - Baby things/ reviews on my purchases.../ i\'m bored OkMy mood while writing this blog:
Ok

Because i'm soo very bored I thought i'd review the things i got and my thoughts on the products i've purchased up until now. When i had my first daughter .. really no idea about all this stuff.. now i have a slight addiction and curiousity to it all.

Aidri Natural Nurser- These bottles that come in 3 sizes and corresponding colours ( white, blue and orange). The nipples are makes of silicone and shaped like a boob. This is so you can bottle feed while breastfeed without nipple confusion. The silicon also allows baby to feel the warmth of the milk making it more like a boob. These bottles load from the bottom not the top and have a large opening ( hoping this makes cleaning easier) I bought 2 of these thinking they will be great if i want to step out for a night while breastfeeding especially since i intend on doing it for 6-9 months.Reviews have been fairly positive, wont know more till i try! Cost $15 CDN a bottle

Twillight Turtle/or Labybug- This is a newly purchased nightlight i got for baby. It's recommended for ages 3-10 or something to help with being afraid of the dark. It's a turtle ( or ladybug or sea turtle) it has 7 constalations in it's back that shine onto the ceiling. It has 3 colours of lights Red, Blue and Green.Made of hard plastic and half plush toy. My nephew is quite intrigued with things that light up and shadows like most babies and loves this thing ( 3 months old). The only downfall is batteries.. i guess makes it easy for bring it around.. but enviromentally and cost effective would have liked a charger pod or something.. my only complaint so far, it's soo cute i want one beats those nasty star stickers i used to have that ruined pain.. Cost $40 CND

Phil and Teds Vibe Stroller and Acessories- So i got the Phil and Teds Vibe. Mostly cause the Sport and dash model weren't waterproof.. which sold me on the more expensive model. Yes i realise you don't walk a baby in a rain storm but i'll be in china and still gotta walk my daughter to school on a rainy day. This Stroller can accomadate 2 children a newborn and toddler ( toddler x2) or i would say newborn and 6 months.. Not good for newborn twins. The Double accessory is sold seperatly but attaches very easily and can be folded with the stroller. The stroller has a lining that should make it easy to clean- I've liked it so far, taken my nephew out with it a few times.. The break on the handle is easy to engage, but not a big deal i like it there instead of by the feet where your forever bending down to engage it. Putting it together, not that there was much, was a task had to look for tips on the net, but the stroller is still amazing. I didn't buy an accessory to attach a car seat but it is possible as a travel system. I did get the storm cover accessorie and UV/bug sheild as well as travel bag to protect it when we travel by plane ( this bag was dissapointing a little cause you have to dissasemble the stroller to get it in.. but seems very protective, which is good for the price of the stroller and what airlines do to your things)- COST STROLLER $699- TRAVEL BAG- $75- DOUBLES STORM COVER( goes over both seats can buy single too)$40- DOUBLES UV COVER- $60- DOUBLES KIT- $90.. yes it was expensive but great resale value and i love it!

Arms reach Co- sleeper mini convertable- This bassinett co-sleeper comes in great colours and i love it.. It will make night time feedings soo easy. It packs up nice and small and is reasonably light. The bassinet accomadates up to 25lbs instead of 15lbs like most playpen/ bassinett combos, which means more use without worry. The Co-sleeper does convert into a playpen as well, very small but enough for my needs, wouldn't do much for a toddler other then serve as a bed . My Only comaplaint on this one.. The sheets unless you buy organic aren't very soft and you have to buy special ones to fit, as well as setting it up takes a bit of practice also not very practicle to put up and down the side panel to change from co-sleeper to bassinet, still like it but has flaws ( still the only thing i found to suite my needs) - COST $179CND

GRACO Travel Bouncer
- I really wanted the Laura Asheley Design but was impossible to get so settled on another. I'm a big fan of bouncers, Doesn't always work for all babies i realise, but generally a good buy from my experience. This bouncer offers 2 speeds in vibration and 2 different sounds ( soothing waves or music) It works off batteries ( again sucky! it is for travel travel though so expected). This Bouncer is great over some of the other because it can be tucked away, it folds compact and has a travel bag. Alot of the bouncers i saw don't fold up so travel anywhere with them is no good and they take up alot of room in the house or otherwise. It has been tested on a baby with great results- COST $70

Sophie the Giraffe
- This is made of natural rubbers from the French alps , great smell to it and painted with natural veggie dyes. It's suppose to be a great squeeky toy for teething and handling. Very soft. My nephew, 3 months, seemed to be delighted by it but it hasn't has a real test run. Very Cute though, and it's a worry free toy ( as long as the dog doesn't find it and decide it's hers)- COST $20

BABY LEGS- Now when i first saw these i thought.. OMG leg warmers for babies people have way too much money to spend. However after more reading they do have a long time use( until 10 years) and practicle applications for use, so i got a couple pairs. I'm having a summer baby so i'm sure onsies will be an outfit of choice on hot days .. and some really cute dresses.. but it can get cold in the evening or what not/ or A/C house.. BABYLEGS to the rescue.. It's great over some pants too cause they warm the legs without interfering with getting to the diaper easier. When baby starts to crawl protects those knees and allows for feet to be bare to help them learn to push..COST$15 a pair

BUM GENIUS 3.0/ ONE SIZE/ ORGANIC AND Reg versions- I opted on cloth diapers because i want to be a good girl and example for my daughter and future kids, but i realise i'm lazy too so when i saw a diaper that seemed as easy as disponsables i was thrilled. There are lots on the market, i went with these cause they are the first i came across that i loved and respected the reviews for. These are one size fits all...so they have snaps to adjust from 7lbs to 35lbs i think it is.. The organic ones are nice.. cause there is no insert in them, but the obsobancy isn't great for night apparently and they take longer to dry. The Reg version has a large pocket to insert a absorbant piece which comes with the diaper ( you can adjust for night, when they;ll be less changes) , because this is removable dries much quicker. They are stored in a dry pail when soiled, so no wet pail with borax and a stick. They are to be washed every 2-3 days and are quite low maintenance. I bought 38 as per the recommendation to rotate through. I did purchase the Bio liners too. This are like fleecy sheet you put inside that catch the poo so you can flush it, hence making it less gross.. I couldn't bare nasty diapers in the garage stinkin' the place up every week until garbage day.. ICK..big investment, but i'm excited to use them, very user friendly COST- $25 per diaper/ 100 Bio liners for $6

HOPPOP DIAPER BAG
- This diaper bag sold me cause it turns into a booster seat! Again this comes to all the travelling i do and having to move back to China.. But i think the design is great!.. It's got a great place to store everything you could want in a diaper bag and great when your at someones house or something and need to sit the baby/ toddler somewhere ( when old enough) and have them strapped in. No nasty unclean high chairs in restaurants for this baby either.. My only concern is i haven't washed it yet, so i'm not sure how friendly and forgiving it will be that way. COST $65- $100

MOBi Thermometer forehead and ea
r- i realise that the best way to take the temperature is in the butt when that young, i know they don't care but i feel a little cruel about it. I did find one anal one by safety first i might break down and buy so i have it for $10 9 it's got awide part so you don't insert it too far), but i don't see me using that past her first birthday more accurate or not a fever is a fever! This thermometer is great cause it doesn't need tips for the ear reading ( which can get expensive) and can also take from forehead if you don't want to disturb too much or have someone quite fussy. It reads outloud the temp if you want also keeps the date and time of the last 25 times you took it ( which could come in handy!). Nice light to it too to take the temp in the dark if you want to check mid sleep without waking someone.-COST $40

I can't think of anymore gizmos and i think i'm finally getting tired.. YAY!

Ok I read all of your reviews. I have been wanting to get the Turtle constelation nightlight for my little guy I just havn't gotten it yet, I also wanted to try out the natural nurser even though I'm only going to be breastfeeding for 3 months I would love to feed longer but I think it would be too much with my demanding job. Since I see you have similar taste as me I'm going to check out the Sophie Giraffe and Mobi thermometer. All of these baby products you reviewed are great! Thanks for writing about this!
