My mood while writing this blog: AAARRRRGGGG!!!! |
Please Help
For those of you that have your nursery together...Where did you get the furniture from...Online or instores? I'm not trying to spend a butt load of money on it and need help finding something nice yet reasonable? If I have a co worker selling...crib, mattress, dresser & dresser w/changing table for $450...is that a good price?
What is really necessary for his room? Do I need 3 pieces or just a crib...his room has a big closet...will buying little containers and putting them up in the closet be good? I just started looking into this for real and I'm going NUTZ!
Why is all this baby stuff so darn expensive? I have seen baby sets that cost more than my bedroom furniture (king)

Friday, 20 Mar Take all you can get from others if they are giving it away and if it doesn't work for you, you could always give to someone else or charity. Also that price for $450 is a pretty decent price. The retail value on my crib w/matress alone is close to $500. You may want to see what condition the stuff is in and if it seems real used maybe you can haggle. Also check craigslist! They have a ton of stuff on there always. spiffychic79 -
Wednesday, 11 Mar Go with used, whenever possible-especially when it's sanitizeable..Use websites like Craigslist, and don't forget about the weekly pennysaver-I still find cool stuff in there! Don't feel like you have to buy EVERYTHING out there, cuz, just like how sexy bras at Victoria's Secret are all about the feel of shopping there-they go after your desire to feel good about your shopping w/expensive prices. I'm such a frugal punk though. Oh-and check the sales racks at every store for the size your baby will be in at that season. I've bought AMAZING clothes for my kids for barely anything-I just bought size appropriate for it. The biggest thing about used to remember is-NOBODY will know it was used, unless you tell them! lol.
Oh-and really random but Lucky Brand Jeans online has some rockin' deals..Just sign up for their email..I was able to buy shirts for like $2.50, jeans for $4.50 etc and they were adorable! tasha1977 -
Tuesday, 10 Mar Baby stuff is expensive, but you have to shop around and find the deals. If you have Toys R us, Babies R Us, or Burlington Coat Factory around you try those stores. They may have some floor samples available that you can purchase for a fraction of the price. This stuff does get costly, but you have to shop wisely. There's nothing wrong with second hand either. All you have to do clean it bleach and amonia, and you will be good. It's a recession out here, you have to do what you have to do. I hope you find something within your budget. mizzkeisha -
Friday, 6 Mar You're right baby stuff is expensive, but I got a great deal about a couple of months ago. I got a matching crib, changing table, changing table mattress, and dresser for $75. It was the display model and in perfect condition. I guess the store was making room to put something else on display. So I got my furniture already assembled and at steal of a price. So I just have to buy the mattress for the crib. I guess the price your co worker wants may be a good price, (it's a lil bit more than I would pay for a used set), but I would definitely buy a new crib mattress if I bought that from them. Thursday, 5 Mar my crib i got online for $315
my bedding i got online for like 179.99 plus i had to buy the mobile for like 30.00 the trash can the curtain a pillow a matching lamp which added on more money...
her dresser i got from ikea, i dont know where you live but in Atlanta, Ca and a few other states has ikea and they have good prices.
i dont think you need the changing table you can just use your bed or if your have or are getting a playpen they come now with a builtin changing table so you dont need it... ebay has good deals but honestly they dont for cribs they are the dame as a new one... i do get clothes for the baby off ebay... for $25.00 i got 9 sleepers witht the feet the fleece kind they look brand new they came yestarday so im pleased becuase monday i went to taget and one fleece nighty is like 8.99 or 9.99 and i got 9 or 25.00 so that was a great deal... try to google a second hand store that carries good quality baby clothes and items. its a good price tfor the stuff your coworker is selling, just make sure its in good condtion!! but if it is i would by it...
I would not buy a used car seat or stroller because they are mechanical and i dont want any defects with my child during a car drive or when im pushing her... look in rthe local newspaper for crib stuff to and look for garage sells.... my neighbor had a garage sell and sold me a bathtub for 1$ and a bassinett for $20, my other neightbor gave us a high chair which is in very good condition, i just dont like the colors!!! it cream and i want girly colors i want to give it to a friend who is broke but my husband says to stop being ungratful so i guess i would keep it !! it's nice though... start now some cribs take awile to ship and lots of stores are out of the most popular cribs mickeychelle30 -
