15-6-2009 - Week 26!

My mood while writing this blog:

I'm bored & thought i would post some updates...We have decided to keep the name Silas, but we are changing his middle name. Hubby can't decide what he likes. We like Grayson bc it means 'son of man with gray hair' & hubby has quite a bit of gray hair already & we thought it was funny & it really does go with Silas & i like the name a lot. He likes Benjamin also. I'm not too sure about Benjamin...it's kind of growing on me though. It's getting a lot harder for me to sleep. I don't know why, but i just wake up & can't go back to sleep. I think i need a body pillow or something. Silas moves a LOT still especially when i'm hungry & then he stops when i feed him...i thought it was supposed to be the other way around? I hear people saying it's easier to feel them after you eat...i guess Silas is just going to be a fussy baby when he's hungry! I get irritated at people sometimes. My MIL & FIL were irritating me this weekend when we went over there. EVERY time i see my MIL she says 'your feet are swollen. you should be careful. you will get toxemia'. If you're pregnant your feet will be swollen a little bit at least bc you have more fluids in your body. Mine are not swollen much at all! It's mostly just when i'm on them all day too. Hubby was looking for middle names & they made me mad. Every name was 'a black name'. Or it was too weird...she wanted to name my husband ELVIS!!! And she talks about our names. All of her sons have the initails A.R.M. She called and told me after we told her we picked Silas that she heard Silas was a black name & wanted to make sure we knew that! She's crazy sometimes...i'm really worried about rascism rubbing off on our son. I'm going to make sure i talk with them about that...Anyways...my sis is going through stuff. She thinks her life sucks & she's depressed. She got mad at me bc i was supposed to go see her & i fell asleep after church. I went to church with my SIL since she goes to church where i live and i didn't want to drive 30 mins to where i usually got to church. She text me hours later & said i lied to her and i didn't go to church and she was bitching me out. She lives with my best friend who i go to church with & i guess she told my sis i didn't go to church that day. I told her i went with my SIL & she said her bad, but she's still upset that i don't see her when she needs me. Her & my best friend she lives with ALWAYS bitch at me for not seeing them enough. I'm the only one who really makes the effort to see them! I see them everytime i go town. I live 20 mins away from them. They have come to see me like twice! I have been to see them & hang out with them many many times. I go at least once a week! When i can't go they should come see me! I don't want to make all of the effort to keep our relationships going & them bitch at me when they say i'm not there. It's not fair! On a happier note...i have both of my baby showers July 11th & 12th! I'm so excited! I can't wait to get Silas's room together! I hope i get everything i still need...

Well it sounds like your IL's are barely tolerable!! Mine too! I would say to try to minimize the annoyance don't talk about names to them around them or with them. Try to cut them out of things that will make a great thing hard or racist. Just try to think of it as if their weakness or addiction is to be stupid and inconsiderate racist bastards. So you try to not include them in things that that would come out in. Like you wouldn't invite a recovering alcoholic to a wine tasting party at your house. As for the friends and sister, you will have to make it clear to them that they can also use their cars, gas, legs and time to visit you. If thry don't get it they never will. But you wont be able to keep them statisfied no matter how much time and energy you give them so at some point you will have to say enough is enough. They will either understand and start working to keep the closeness or you will drift apart. I have had that will many people. I am sort of a downer and have lots of hormones coursing through my veins. But bluntly I still think that all of that is true. Good luck! Don't let it deter from venting!

I have similar issues with my in-laws being some what ignorant and making hateful comments about different groups of people. I was really worried about it. But the fact is, when it comes to your child, you will have the guts to confront people and tell them what they can not say in front of your child. As soon as it occurred, I just said, "please don't say that in front of my child", and his brother in law (who was the one that said it) laughed. So I looked him dead in the eye, and said, "no, I'm serious. I don't want that said in front of my child". It hasn't happened again yet, but if it does I will definitely make a big deal out of it. And as far as your sister being mad at you, you're pregnant. Nobody gets to be mad at you right now. Pregnancy is like a free pass to do whatever you want without people getting mad. And if they do get mad, then screw them. They should realize that you're doing the best that you can and no matter what happens it's not worth stressing you out over.
