17-5-2010 - 33 weeks & Baby Shower!!

My mood while writing this blog:
Blegh!!

So as of yesterday (16th May 2010) we had our baby shower, me and dh didn't have anything to do with planning, which made me extremely nervous, since I'm extremely OCD when it comes to planning things!! We got up and went to Church, like every boring Sunday, the baby shower was right after wards which kinda sucked, because it meant I didn't get to relax after the non-enjoyment of Church. When we first went in every one was talking/eating, they went ahead and started it without me and husband since we were in a meeting with the pastor at the time. But after about 30 minutes, we had to go and sit up front to open the presents... The bit I hated the most, I mainly opened the cards, my poor husband did everything else, he opened the gifts, and read out the cards, I just sat there feeling extremely uncomfortable, yes I know the focus was meant to be on the baby but I don't do well in large groups or when the focus is on me even from a few people. Honestly I don't even remember who was there, because there were mil friends, and sil friends there. I got a little annoyed at sil because she was being loud and obnoxious, but that's just her all over, needs to be biggest center of attention. We got a few things we wanted and a lot of things we didn't really want, but they'll be used anyway at some point.. My mil decided to tell everyone that we wanted/needed diapers.. Without telling people specifically WHAT we wanted in diapers.. We wanted to use these G-diapers that we found, and do you think anyone got any?? Nope.. Instead we got 2 freaking boxes of size 2 disposable diapers, plus like 5 or 6 packages of disposable diapers, plus the diapers we already had from family members!.. So much for us wanted to use the ones we chose.. But we got other stuff too like baby shampoo, A LOT of baby wipes, diaper rash cream, etc stuff like that.. We got a few cute outfits, socks, a pair of booties, we also got health kits, grooming kits, and like 3 thermometer's.. Oh and 2 diaper bags. We also got some hand made blankets, (which we have so many blankets now, he'll be using them for years) with the gift cards we received we managed to buy the changing table and a crib baby soother. I think gift wise that's it. I guess in the end it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but it would've been nice to be able to know what was actually going on, I wouldn't say I hated it, but I can't say I thoroughly enjoyed it either.

Goodness... you know, if you don't enjoy church, sounds like you should find a different one. I hate that you didn't enjoy your shower, but it sounds like they forked out some money on you. It really is the thought that counts. The girl in charge of my shower at church asked me if I wanted to register at Wal-Mart and I told her I wouldn't feel comfortable at all with that. If someone is nice enough to get me a gift, then I'll take whatever they pick out. You can always regift it for someone else if it's something you can't use:)
