| 11-8-2009 - Blood serum results! |
My mood while writing this blog: Great |
The blood serum results came back today. She does have to watch what she eats. The serum test seem so different that the glucometer testing. Fasting was normal at 81. Glucose at 1/2 hour was high at 160. Glucose at 1 hour was 192 which is in the normal range but at the high end. Glucose at the 2 hour is at 130 again at the high range of normal. The 3 hour where she was feeling ill and threw up was at 42 which was pretty low. The concern is here. The doctor says that she passed the 3 hour but at the high end of normal. Then when she went low her body didn't respond very well. It took her a while to get back to normal. I think doctors don't realize that low blood sugar is just as bad. I don't think they figure it matters much. However, I know how I feel when I am at the low end. She threw up most of the afternoon so I stayed with her util I thought she was ok. What do you all think. Should we ask to see a dietician?

Thursday, 27 Aug I agree with Allynne.......why aren't they concerned about the hypoglycemia??? Mackenzie goes to the doctor tomorrow. I am lucky to be in NY with her now to go to doc with her. She should know the results of her testing too. My sis had gest. diab. with her 3rd child. She was ok afterwards. I hope Mackenzie is ok from all of that.Well, off I go....hope all continues well :) We are getting close to babies, aren't we :) allynne7 -
Tuesday, 11 Aug It might be a good idea but if you already know what to do when her blood sugar drops then it shouldn't be too bad. You seem to have a handle on all of this and what to do. Just advise her on what she should be eating to keep her sugar up and if you have a glucometer then have her check her blood any time she feels 'off'. When it reads low she'll know to eat something and when it's too high then have her eat whole wheat bread to add insulin to her system. Whatever she feels safest with is what you guys should do. I'm glad she passed tho...I was worried last night. It's weird that the doc wasn't more concerned about her turning hypoglycemic tho. Thank goodness she's got you!
