| 20-8-2009 - 29 Weeks Pregnant | My mood while writing this blog:Ok |
This is the week that you need to gain around 19 to 25 pounds as most of the weight gain in pregnancy occurs between the
20th and 30th week. At this time you can face indigestion problems due to the increasing weight of the uterus so you need to eat a high fiber pregnancy diet including fruits, vegetables, cereals, whole grain and bran. You can drink a lot of water to avoid constipation as well as dehydration which can lead to preterm delivery. You can exercise regularly including moderate activities like walking and swimming to stimulate the bowels. You can ask the doctor to reduce the iron tablets if the constipation is severe. Laxatives and mineral oils are prohibited during delivery to cure constipation as they can instigate a preterm delivery. Sometimes the doctor might ask you to avoid certain activities or take complete bed rest at this stage. Be informed about the reasons to do so.
This week has had a me a little emotional. Not because of anything to do with mom or dad but because I am finally coming to the realization that I will be a grandma soon. I didn't realize that this was such a big step. I really don't know how to explain what is goin on but I'll give it a try. I am worried about everything from the upcoming shower to what mommy is eating. Questions I find that I shouldn't be asking I am asking and becoming more and more protective of the grandbaby that isn't even born yet. Sometimes my daughter just looks at me in wonder of what are you thinking. I have never been obnoxious I don't know what is causing this emotion but I hope I get it undercontrol real soon. The other day at the doctors office I was real upset when they changed the appointment that was scheduled without calling us. I told your mom to "get a clue" because she was eating very unhealthy one day. I was yelling, for no apparent reason, at my daughter and husband. Grandpa was pretty upset about it and very unlike him, he ignored me for a few days and then told me how I hurt his feelings for yelling at him. I hope soon I can understand these feelings and stop making others feel bad. Sometimes, I think that I am wondering whether or not I will be a good Grandmother, I know in my heart that this is one worry I can put to rest. On another note, Lilly grow up strong this week because we see the doctor next week. We can't wait to hear how well you are doing and mommy is looking real pregnant now. I think she looks great for 30 weeks. Love Grandma Shirton.
The baby is growing rapidly at this point weighing about 2 2/3 pounds and measuring around 14 ½ inches. The baby’s head is growing and there is a rapid brain development that began since the 28th week. The baby’s muscles and lungs also continue to develop and mature. The baby can now hear better and can distinguish real sounds and voices from all the vibrations around him/her. Some experts say that the baby’s heart rhythm will increase on hearing the sound of the father or mother. The music you play now or story read now will be recognized by the baby later as you will observe the baby stopping to listen for the same familiar sound later. The baby is less hyperactive now and no matter how much you eat the baby will want to have more leaving you feeling hungry and tired all the time. Your baby can now open its eyes and turn its face towards a source of bright light. The fingernails are growing and fat layers begin to form on the skin as the baby gets ready for its life outside the womb. The fetus can suck its thumb and has the ability to cry.
