25-10-2009 - Worse Possible Induction better now!My mood while writing this blog:
better now!

If you have been following Jordan's story this is just an update of events for the past few weeks. Jordan had a broken tailbone at the age of 12 from a kick in her buttocks from a quite hefty young man during a Tae Kwon Do competition. She was a black belt at the time and had to spar both girls and boys during this time because not too many girls were black belts at the time. The young man did give her a round house kick in the tailbone and she pretty much broke it at that time. We really didn't think about this injury until the last month of her pregnancy when the baby laid on her tailbone and caused termendous amounts of pain. No pain meds would help with the sciatic nerve pain. The doctors decided an early induction was necessary to relieve her pain. This is our story.

We went in for induction on Friday morning at 8:00 a.m. Her contractions were induced by cervidil. Pardon my spelling because I don't know all the spellings for every term. Her contractions started full force at about 3:00 p.m on Friday. They were about 1-2 minutes apart for ever. They decided to check the cervix about five or six hours into the contractions because she was experiencing a lot of back pain and pressure. She was 1 centimeter dialated and 50% effaced. This was not the best news that we could have hoped for but baby was responding wonderful and she just plugged away for another 20 hours until the pain from the tail bone was so severe they had to stop labor and put her to sleep with the use of morophine. The nurse just held her until the morophine kicked in and she fell to sleep. In the end Jordan never dialated beyond 1 and baby never decended due to the position that her tail bone healed in. She was given 3 options. Not to deliver naturally was probably the safest bet because the tailbone would definately have to be reposition or rebroken in order for the baby to decend. She took this option because it was the safest option for the baby and herself.

She was a trouper though. Although the contractions never did get severe the back pain was ungodly and was threatening her well being she made the best decision she could for her baby. We are to call the doctor's office on Monday morning to schedule an elective c-section. I is only elective because the baby is not in any danger at this point. We all hope and wish that all who have been following her story will keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we face the most amazing time of our lives. Mommy just wants to meet baby.

We will look forward to any kind words and words of wisdom from anyone who may have them. Thank you to all who have given us the words of hope throught Jordan's pregnancy. We have well wishes for you too. Give your baby hugs and lots of kisses. Jordan and Grandma Shirton.

I wish her strength and all the support in the world as she goes through recovery. I am recovering from a C section myself (OCt 17)...it's not easy but it's so worth it to ensure the health of mom and baby. It's the only surgery where the outcome is the best gift in the world!!!

Good luck to your daughter and grandbaby! It sounds like she's making the right decision, I can't imagine rebreaking a tailbone would be a very fast recovery, and it sounds excruciatingly painful!

I had a c-section with my daughter I was sore for awhile but I think that pain would be easier then to re break her tail bone. I am going in a 5:30 Monday to get ready for my c-section and I am so scared even though I have had one already. My moto is that if I have to have stiches I would rather have them across my stumic rather then to tear down there. I was also told that there is this belt that goes across your belly and that may help the werd sloshy feeling that you get in your belly I wish that I know about that band when I had my daughter. I will try it this time. I hope that everything goes good for your daughter. She sounds like a really strong woman with all that she has been through her c-section should be a breeze BEST OF LUCK!!!!

One more thing...I had a beautiful anestesiologist! LOLMy husband and I still laugh about how good looking he was. hehe

I had a c- section 3xs. The first was an elective after laboring for 22 hours without progression. I was completely exhausted and dr. gave me an option to have the surgery or try for another 2 hours and have it anyway. Lucas was a big baby 8lbs.15 1/2 oz. for my small 5'2 frame. His shoulders were stuck during the surgery and so dr. had to give me another cut. Now because of that I cannot go into labor because of the risk of rupture. It won't be so bad. I think your making the best decision for yourself and the baby with your condition. It will be helpful as a new mom to have somebody around to help during your recovery (the first week). The hardest part for me was adjusting to being a new mom with round the clock feedings and feeling the tinge of pain from my incision every time I got up. Recovery is much harder when your not getting proper sleep. ;) But don't worry, babies smiles will melt it all away. Love to you!
