23-8-2009 - Serious Car Accident

On Thursday August 20th, my BF and I were in a serious accident. I was driving and he was in the passenger seat. We were stopped, waiting to make a left into a plaza, when a car from behind came and rear ended me. She was doing around 60-70 KM/h. I had time to look in my rear view mirror and say "Oh F**K!!!" And then she hit me. She threw our car about 150 feet down the street. We were almost at the next block when we stopped. I couldn't move. My back and neck were completely numb. The fire department had to rip off my side skirt to get the door open. The Paramedics got there and got us out of the car and into the ambulance and to the hospital. At this point I had a neck brace on and I was strapped to a board which hurt more then anything. I also had to go pee, really bad and they wouldn't let me go to the washroom. They also wanted to give me an xray to make sure that my neck and back wasn't broken but I refused because there is too much of a risk to the baby. At this point, I didn't even know if the baby was ok. They couldn't send me for an Ultra Sound as the Imaging Center was closed. We finally got released and went home. On Friday we had to go to the Police Station to see if a report was done, which it was. Funny thing is is that I never got to speak to the cop and let him know what happened. I guess he got all the info from the witness and Paramedic. Then we had to go to the car (that's written off) to get our personal belongings. Then we had to go for an Ultra Sound at 11:30 and had to wait in Emergency until 4:15 to find out that the baby is fine and that the baby is measuring at 13 weeks and 2 days (as of Friday) instead of being 12 weeks 2 days. Then we went to see a Lawyer and things are looking really good. He's gonna really fight for us.

Anyways, we are really sore but i think we're going to pull through. We're just really glad that the baby is fine.

wow! thats one of my biggest fears while im driving! im glad that all 3 of you are doing good! i hope that you arent sore for too long and that it all heals quick!

I am extremely happy that all three of you are doing ok and getting better. It so could have ended differently. I'm just happy it didn't.
