20-3-2009 - Fetal Heart Echo @ 21 Weeks.

I went for my fetal heart echo this morning. All it really is, is an ultra sound of the baby and her heart. Baby was pretty much cooperating for the most part, but at one point hid behind the belly button and didn't want to show her heart. The u/s tech was poking at her with the doppler and she would hit or kick back, but she would not move out from behind the belly button. It was so cute. Her heart rate was 136 bpm. At the end of the appointment I asked the tech what she thought I was having so we decided to look and baby girl kept her legs closed. I saw last time, but I kind of wanted the reassurance of a second u/s clarifying that she is still in fact a she, but alas, the little missy would not cooperate. Oh well...I know she's a girl. We got a great clear view last time. Anyhow, the tech said the heart looks good and I got to see all 4 chambers of the heart working correctly as well as blood flow and electrical activity.

My placenta is still low lying. In fact is is measuring closer to the cervix than 2.5 weeks ago. Last time I was told that it is about 2.3 cm away and now it is measured at 1.9 cm away from the cervix. I will be getting another u/s in 6 to 9 weeks to monitor this.

So, getting to my 7:45 appointment was another story. I went to the Foothills location which was where I was told to go by the booking lady. Her words to me exactly were, "You are at Foothills again for your fetal heart echo." This was not true. I got to FH and was told that I was actually booked at Southport which is way in the SW and FH is NW. So, with my full bladder and nauseous tummy I was sent for the 20 minute plus drive south. The Southport location did get me in relatively fast so that was a relief. My tech was great and very chatty which I always find reassuring.

Glad everything went well.. :) well except for that whole lil mission drivin for 20 mins but u know how that is..GOD BLESS!!!

Im glad everything was good! Our tech for the Echo was over and hour somthing late.

I am glad to hear everything is well with your little lady. I agree friendly chatty u/s techs are the best.
