04-9-2008 - ..L&D, hospital stays, and idiot doctors..

My mood while writing this blog: About to snap!

It all started...

Monday morning, I woke up and notice my contractions were stronger then normal. So I called my *stupid* doctors office and they said to call back if anything changed, so I went to the mall with my husband because they told me to walk, then when we got done with that we came home and I was in tears my contractions were so bad. I called my *stupid* doctors office again and they told me to come into L&D, which I did and I was put in a triage monitoring room. I felt like my contractions were abourt 5 mins apart but aparently their moitors were picking them up every 2 minutes. So they put me in a delivery room and wanted to give me Morphine and obviously I told them no because I they wouldn't give me a direct answer if it was baby safe or not and I have always heard that all narcotics like that are extremely harmful to the baby. The next morning (tuesday 9/2) they came in and said I wasn't dialated or effaced and they sent me home and told me not to ome back untill my contractions were consistant...all that for nothing but a really bad night of sleep.

Tuesday 9/2

We got home from the hospital and I was extremely tired so I went to sleep, then I woke up at about 3pm and my contractions were stronger again, this time we noticed they were ever 4 minutes and they stayed that way for 3 hours, so we went to a different better hospital because I hate my hospital and doctors office, I swear they don't know anything. They told the other hospital we went to that they couldn't find my records, just to show you how professional they are. We got to the other hospital and they monitored me for 3 hours and saw how strong and consistant my contractions were, they were off the paper! So the doctor checked my cervix and I was dialated to fingertip ( not sure of thats a cm or not) and 20% effaced, so she told me to go walk in hopes it would speed things up. Between 8am and 6pm I dilated and effaced and she told me that I am in labor but I'd be more comfortable at home for this stage of labor and to come back after I saw my actuall doctors (ya know the ones that don't know anything). So to try to speed things up I have tried they wives tales: Walking walking walking, up and down stairs over and over again, pineapple, spicy food, house cleaning and 2 hot baths, well I'm thinkin somethin worked because after I got out of the bath my mucus plug started to come out.

Now..

I called my doctors office this morning and they wanted to give me an appointment at 1:30, which didn't work because my husband is at work (thats the busiest time of his day) and my contractions are to strong for me to drive. So I fought with them about that and the mid wife I talked to is now saying that I'm not in labor and that the other doctor who saw me at hospital #2 didn't know what she was talking about. My husband is getting off at 2:30 and my new appt is at 3:30.

My question is...

• Am I in labor or not?

• When will I get to see my little girl?

• Do I want to have my baby at a hospital thats offering to dope me up?

• Or at the hospital that says I am already in labor?

Please help me out on this ladies, I need to know if I am out of line or if these are signs of labor at all, I guess just need some general direction. Either way I am miserable and ready to see my baby girl.
