| 19-12-2010 - Cody Jeffrey Lee... | My mood while writing this blog:Exhausted |
Well I had my son on 11/24 and haven't had any time to be on here and write about it, so I figured while the hubby and the 2 boys are asleep I should do it. =)
Well I went to bed on 11/23 thinking that the baby was going to be stubborn and be born on Thanksgiving just because I wanted to eat lol. My husband works from 4pm till 12am every day so he's usually home around 1am. He got home and came in bed on 11/24 and when he came in bed he woke me up and I felt sick, so I went to the bathroom. My body was "cleansing" itself which is exactly what it did before I went into labor with Dylan. So I came out of the bathroom and told him we needed to go to the hospital. So he didn't sleep at all. We got our hospital bag and went downstairs. My mother was awake so we told her we were. It was about 1:10am she told me to text when I got there and let her know what was going on and she would come up there. Driving the hospital I was nervous but not in a lot of pain. We finally got to the hospital about 1:45am. They wheeled me upstairs and had me change into the lovely gown and right away the nurse checked me. She said I was 5cm. The midwife came in shortly after and told me if I wanted she could break my water to speed up the process, but I wasn’t ready for that yet. I wasn’t in that much pain and I know breaking the water makes the contractions stronger so I wanted to wait it out a little bit. Immediately my hubby fell asleep on the couch in the room. I turned the TV on but didn’t really want to lie in the bed, I still felt sick. So I went in the bathroom. I was in the bathroom most of the time, the nurse kept asking if I was ok and if I wanted and epidural, and I kept telling her I was ok and I was going to do it without the epidural. She kept telling me I was brave. Lol Well at about 5am she came in again and said she wanted to check me, so she did and I was 8cm at that point. I told her to tell the midwife to come in and I wanted her to break my water, I was done and ready to get the kid out lol. So the midwife came in, broke my water, and instantly I felt like I needed to push. I then at that point woke my husband up. So I started pushing and the midwife said the baby wasn’t down all the way so to just push him down. I pushed for about and hour and a half and I felt like I wanted to give up, I felt like I was getting no where!! I couldn’t take pushing I was so tired and drained and hungry lol. They had me pushing while laying on my side which was weird, but with my 1st I dislocated my tailbone so I didn’t want to push laying on my tailbone. It worked, I didn’t hurt my butt this time lol. Finally he came all the way down at about 6:45am and finally at 7:01am he was born!! He came out, they put him on my tummy, my hubby cut the cord and then they took him to clean him off. Then the midwife was trying to get the placenta out and that was taking forever. It took almost an hour!! Finally she and 2 other nurses had to push on my belly so hard and it finally came out. Ugh what a disgusting process lol. So then the midwife checked me for tears. NO TEARS, NO CUTS, NO PAIN MEDS, NOTHING!! Such a trooper. No one could believe I did it without any drugs yet again, the nurses kept saying it was very rare that they see a woman who doesn’t get the epidural. The baby is gorgeous!! It’s funny because he looks so much like my first son; I felt like I was reliving my first labor and pushed out the same baby lol!! His name is Cody Jeffrey Lee. He was 7lbs 10oz and 22in long. He’s a tall guy. He has dark brown hair and brown eyes. After all the cleaning up, they moved me to the mother/baby room. Then a little while later the visitors started coming, I was exhausted because I hadn’t really slept the few hours before my husband got home. I was only in the hospital one night, I was able to go home on Thanksgiving and eat Turkey!! I was so excited. Next year Cody’s 1st birthday will be on Thanksgiving, which is kind of cool.
