My mood while writing this blog: AHHHH |
Ok, I know compleatly out of sink, I should be putting up labour, or aches and pains or some thing, but just to change the tune a little, and too give some an insite to what is to come and see if someone who has been their before can offer some advice? Please?
My first two boys just decided one day that that was it, no more nappies. Both were arround 18 months to 2 ish. We had a few accidents but both were keen to try hard and it didn't take long at all before they were dry during the day. I wasn't worried by the night time nappies and that soon followed dry days :-)
However my number 3 boy isn't having any of it!!! He knows how to use the loo, he thinks it is great when he gets the rewards but he doesn't want to use the loo!!! he is nearly 3! I though that when he started pre-school that he would then want to be like the others but no! He is not interested.
Yesterday he wanted some igglepiggle pants, so I told him if he was a big boy and used the toilet he could have them. Well today we are on the 3rd pair of pants and all he does is stand thair or sit their and just pee! that will even be after he has been to the loo or If I have just asked him if he would like to go.
All he really wants to do in the bathroom is wash his sisters dolls in the toilet and wash the floor with the liquid soap! Did I just have it too easy with my first two boys?
I have just put him back in a nappy as i'm now too tired to chase round cleaning up after him.
Any advice would be great please! :-)

Thursday, 2 Oct I am having a slightly similar problem i am potty training my son who is 3 dec. He is my 1st and my 2nd is due 30th Nov so i really want him fully trained by then, plus he starts play school in jan. He really took to it at first, for some reason he doesnt understand about poo. We put him in proper pants straight away cos he was so good, but now we have to use potty training pants and now he is going back wards and forgetting and now weeing in his pants, but his poo is sooooo runny i cant have him in pants.....I am on mat leave now so im with him 24/7 he is still in potty training pants and we have potty in the lounge and i ask him all the time if he wants to go, and if he hasnt been for a while i sit him there for 10 mins and he usually ends up going, still havent mastered the poo yet....he tells us afterwards.....lol If you manage to get any other advice please share ha ha ha. Thursday, 2 Oct Ouch! All that with the new addition coming :-) Yes, I must say that I had a struggle with my boy too, but that was the creche's fault, they put a nappy on him during the day eventhough I packed like 7 or 9 pairs of pants and underpants!
What the second creche did, which worked, was they had a potty training class, they have the kids sit on the potties while they read them a story then after about 20 minutes they go play or eat or whatever and then again after 30 minutes have them sit on the toilet and obviously make a big hoohaa with clapping hands and jumping up and down if somebody does something. I think the whole idea was to introduce them to the potty on a regular basis and to get them to relax whilst sitting there, which is an art of its own! But I started doing this at home, while we coloured, or watched TV or had some 1 on 1 time and eventually he would do something in the potty and I would call grandma and grandpa and uncles and everybody would clap and congratulate him and tell him what a big boy he was. But, like I say, that worked for me, but all kids are different. He was also just over 3 at the time.
Good luck, I know that is very hard. Here in SA we wait for summer months to potty train so they can wear as little as possible, they don't like the wet pants thing, that is apparently what puts them off, but over there, I don't know how sunny it gets.....
