27-1-2009 - Caidens doctors appointment

My mood while writing this blog: looking forward

Well I took Caiden to the doctors this morning. He got the gaviscon on Saturday and was really struggling to feed, he only managed 17oz on Saturday, 17oz on Sunday and 18oz on Monday.

The doc said that because he has been so sick lately the acid in his stomach has probably burnt his throat making it painful to feed, and will take a few days on the gaviscon to calm it down a bit. He is still being sick, but not as bad, and not getting as upset when he does. So at least it looks like its working.

She looked at his weight and wasnt too happy with the progress (or lack of) he is making. She looked at him and also commented on how skinny he is. I now have to feed him every 4 hours (strictly) and encourage him to have 4oz, also at night time. So good bye any changes of a full nights sleep lol. But as long as my little sausage gains weight I dont mind.

I have to give him the gaviscon in every feed. Also continue to weigh him every two weeks, so I'll be taking him back to the clinic next Wednesday and he will be 12 weeks. Caiden is just about on the 2nd percentile mark, when he was born he is only just under the 9th. She said she would ideally like to see him just above the 9th so he has some serious feeding to do lol.

I have an appointment to see the doc again in two weeks so she can see how he is doing. If he is still not gaining enough weight she will refer him to the hospital. So little man had better start feeding and getting fat lol. I cannot believe how different my babies are.

Please everyone can you wish my baby fat lol. I am aiming for him to be 10lb 9oz. That will be a 10oz weight gain.
