21-10-2008 - Insurance

My mood while writing this blog:

So im starting my 27th week and just as i think things are going to start going smoothly something goes wrong.

Im currently on my mother health insurance due to only being 19 and just having had moved out of the house. We thought her insurance would carry me until january and then i would just have to either get medicaid from there on out or pay $300 or so dollars to be covered for the month of january when im due to deliver. Well we found out a couple weeks ago that her insurance is dropping me November 1st which is when im scheduled to start my appt's every 2 weeks seeing ill be 29 weeks.

Ive applied for medicaid but as usual they never do things quickly. ive applied once before and sent in everything they asked for and they lost it so here i am doing the process all over again but i have a feeling i may need to drop my appt's for a month or so until i can get the insurance. I really dont want to do that seeing its the end of my pregnancy but i dont see any other option at the moment. It can take them up to a month and a half just to hear what else they need (such as proof of income) which at that point would put me at starting my 9th month, and then wait for them to process my income forms.... I cant go that long before another appt! ahhh i hate the government

Sorry just needed to vent, any sugestions or cheap insurance suggestions would be appreciated thank you!

Hey... I myself am on medical card!! They lost all of my information at first and it took up to three months before I got my medical card, but here is my advice don't drop your appointments and the reason why I say this is b/c by law (here in ky) since you are pregnant and you need help with medical coverage anytime you go to the ob doctor without insurance you tell them you are waiting on your medical card they will start sending you bills in the mail hold on to the bills and once your medical card does come in you call the number on your bill and give them the number off of your card and your medical card will back date any medical bills you have had since your insurance has drop and you applied for medical card.. But with that being said we do live in different states my advice please look into it first before you cancel any of your appointments b/c they may do the same in your state... Good Luck Sweetie!!

If you are a full-time student, you should be able to stay on her policy as long as you prove you are a ful time student (I guess depending on eligibility guidelines)

Why is your insurance eligibility being terminater November 1st. I'm not sure of Laws in Michigan, but in MN, the employer can choose to allow adult children on the policy up to the age of 25 even if they are not a full-time student. Check into the elligibility options on your mom's plan. Can you take out a COBRA planthrough your mom's employer? I'd go to the County, or wherever you'd get government benefits and tell them it is urgent. You need medical coverage NOW
