| 09-4-2008 - ACCIDENTS WILL HAPPEN... |
My mood while writing this blog: PARANOID |
Well it was bound to happen...Aliyah had her first accident. Entirely my fault let me explain. It all started with Aliyah being fussy all night. I tried everything burping, nursing and rocking and nothing settled her down. Finally I decided to put her on the other side of me to watch some t.v. (big mistake) as she watched t.v and slowly stopped crying i began to rock her. Well i must of rocked both of us to sleep because the next thing I knew I woke up to her cries. I stared in the spot she should have been and for a second was confused as to why she was no longer there. I suddenly realized that my poor baby had fell of the bed and was now on the floor. I quickly scooped her up and apologized over and over. I was close to tears as i rocked her back and forth trying to console her. It didn't take long for her to quiet down and soon she started to become drowzy. Remembering something I heard I didn't allow her to fall asleep for one hour instead I played with her and checked for bumps and bruises. After the hour passed I changed her and fed her and this time put her on the inside facing the wall. But instead of sleeping i woke up every 20 min checking on her. I know this was just an accident but nothing can describe how a mom feels when she inflicts pain on her child. As Aliyah cried I felt terrible wanting to rewind the moment and smack myself for falling asleep. Thank God Aliyah's fine and everything seems to be okay. But I sure did learn a lesson besides not sleeping with a child especially sleeping with the child facing the floor, I learned that accidents will happen....and its up to the mom to learn from them.
