26-9-2009 - We are finally home and sort of organized goodMy mood while writing this blog:
good

So here it goes for all of you, who followed my story... thank you, you all know who you are.

My induction date was planned for Monday, the 21st. I had to go in at 5AM. They checked me in and so on. I was still only 3cm dilated, 50% effaced, so they started the pitocin at 9AM. The day dragged on and on, I did not even feel any contraction until noon (and the level of pitocin is being increased by every 20 min, my level was 16 by the time I felt something). Long story short, sometimes in the afternoon, when they broke my water I ended up asking for the epidural, which they forgot to connect to my catheter. After a few hours I had pretty bad pressure and pain and I called the doc when they started my epi...lol Ok, it was not too bad, and I got some painkillers to make it until the epidural started to work.

By 9-ish? I don't exactly remember as House was on TV, but I felt pretty sick and sort of out of the whole thing the doctor told me, that I was ready. They rolled me to the OR, I could barely move my legs. In anyhow, they prepared me for the birth of my first son. Pushing was not too bad, Oliver was born after a few pushes, completely healthy, no NICU time, 6lbs 14.5 oz.

The doctor's had a challenge on their hands to turn my younger son from sideways to vertex position. That took about a good half an hour and I felt very sick throughout the whole process. But it was a success. The only problem was by that time my cervix was about to close. They had to start to pitocin again, and I had an episode of shooting blood out of my that scared everyone. We ruled out placenta abruption and they rolled me back to my room and my second son was waaaay up high.

Around 2 AM my contraction and the sickness was back with a vengance and my epidural was slowly going out of my system. I was actually happy about it. I could feel my legs, my pain and was hoping for the upcoming pushing process as well.

The only problem was now we had dips in the baby's heartrate at every 5th contraction. I was sure that right before the end they'll do an emergency C-section. But my doctor wanted to wait, rolled me into a different position, which made the difference for the little time left.

They let me push around 2.20. Edmund (Eddie) Alexander was born at 2.24 AM with two tiny pushes. His cord was around his neck, but clamped before it could have caused any problems. He was 5lbs 8oz, just as healthy as his brother. Spent 4 hours at the NICU for observation as mommy developed a high fever during the birth process (it always happens to me).

I was on antibiotic for another day and Eddie for another 2 days. But it went all very well considering and we all came home on Thursday.

Being away from home for 4 days took a toll on my family. And on me as well. I was happy to be home and get everything organized. I am at the final stages of that. I can finally cook, do the household chores, breastfeed, pump and do homework with my 6 year old. And yes, I am tired. Aren't we all?...lol

This is the story of the birth of my twins, who are fraternal, look very different and will celebrate two different birthdays.

Thank you for reading my friends shortly another story will follow!
