25-6-2008 - Chickenpox OKMy mood while writing this blog:
OK

Hello everyone, well this morning I woke up to find my poor little Alexandra covered from head to toe in chickenpox!! She has been a bit off it for the last few days and had the symptoms of a cold, I actually thought she had hayfever, but nope this morning my doctor confirmed chickenpox.

The spots are really itchy and the poor little mite has loads of them on her head in her hair not to mention all over the rest of her body, and she is getting frustrated with them! I am on standby with the calamine lotion dabbing her with it all the time!!! We had a really busy few weeks ahead of us but everything has had to be cancelled because she cant go to nursery, school or be around the general public, because she is contagious! So we are like a pair of hermits !!!! lol

We had a good nap together today though and seen as she is poorly we had the nap in my big bed all cosy together, I needed the sleep because I am starting to get tired easily being 31 weeks pregnant and all!!! Can you believe it 31 weeks pregnant, I cant believe baby number two will be arriving in a matter of weeks, Im getting soooooo excited now. Im all ready and just hope these last 9 weeks dont drag. I also feel fortunate that Alexandra got chickenpox now rather than in a few weeks time when we have a newborn baby in the house, that would have been a disaster!!!!!

Anyways I hope you are all doing well with your pregnancies, babies, ttc etc etc..... Love to all

Hey girl, chicken pox is horrible. Angie and Dion got it within 2 weeks of eachother back in 2006 so we went through that much calomine lotion.
Dont want to ring any alarm bells but I've heard that when your pregnant your meant to stay well away from people with chicken pox as it can have an effect on your unborn baby. Some believe it's a myth but my friend had to have a partial birth abortion when she was 5 or 6 months pregnant because the doctor told her her baby could be born with serious health problems, it was aweful!! Anyway, maybe you could just find out and be sure all is well with your doctor :)

hi Gina Sorry to hear Alexandra is not well, but you are so right to look on the bright side and be glad it has happened now and not in a few weeks. Hope she is better soon.
You sound like me at the moment 31 weeks and just exhausted all the time, my Alex is being a great help bless her, telling me to rest and making me coffee (decaff) she can hardly wait to be a big sister.
Take it easy Gina and keep going with the calamine lotion Karen XXXXXXXXXX

AWWW.....poor baby! Thank God she got them before Izzies' s arrival. That would have been really bad.
I so feel for Alex. I got the pox when I was 13, so I vividly remember how horrible they are.
I don't know if they sell Aveeno products where you live, but Aveeno make a great oatmeal bath. Just pour one packet into a luke warm bath and let her soak in it. It really helps!! It's almost like sitting in a tub of calamine lotion.
Hope she feels better soon!

Hi Gina sorry to hear you little one has chicken pox. My little girl had them when she was 2 also. I got some Eurax from the chemist as it is a cream that stops itching fast and the pharmacist recommended it to me as it lasts longer than the calamine lotion. Hope it clears up soon.
