Saw the good doctor yesterday. He confirmed that the 20 week ultrasound looked perfect. He busted out a measuring tape and measured the distance from my pelvic bone to the bottom of my sternum for the first time. Can't remember what this is called but he said that the number of centimeters should very closely represent the number of weeks? (huh?) Well, I wasn't overweight before I got pregnant, but I definitely did NOT have washboard abs...so I'm not sure how much a little belly jello added to it - I guess like most women the stomach is pretty flat when laying down on your back - thanks to gravity! He said I was measuring about 22 to 22 1/2 weeks instead of 21 1/2 according to LMP. Hmmmm. He did not change my due date so this must be another approximation deal.
Baby's heartbeat was 121 - 131, but then he said he may be partially picking up the pulse in my anterior placenta. Then he caught just the baby's heartbeat and it was 140. He said that it's right down the middle for boy girl averages (again, another old wives tale but even the doc mentioned it!) but since we don't want to know - and keep everyone guessing, this is good news too!
Total weight gain is 11 lbs so far from pre-pregnancy weight, but 13.5lbs since 8 week appt. Hmmm...
Doc said all looks so good, he is fine with me not coming back for 5 weeks so he can do the glucose test at the 26 1/2 week mark. I'm cutting back on the sugar in my tea starting now (not cutting out completely) since I have no intention of flopping that test. Got to keep our "win" streak going!
The good doctor also mentioned that while my next visit will be a 5 week span, there is just one more 4 week span after than then we go to every 2 weeks. WOW! Time is flying now! I'm starting to daydream about not just a healthy pregnancy, but holding a little bitty baby soon....
Our bathroom remodel starts tomorrow! Yea!
