13-3-2009 - Crib Crazy Fed up!My mood while writing this blog:
Fed up!

Warning this is just a venting blog!

Ok, so I thought I'd save a few bucks and accept my friends offer she made (back in December) to give me her crib since her son is 7 and she can't have any more kids. My mother and father offered us a nice chunk of change for furniture, but with what we have and my friends crib, we thought this would be a nice way to save $300 of that money and jump start to baby's college fund.

I've been letting her know that as our bathroom remodel wrapped up in February that I'll be ready for the crib and to try to crank through the nursery in March (the room was painted neutral colors when we bought the house 4 yrs ago with a baby in mind, so it just needed cleaning and a few pieces of furniture). I want the nursery done in March for several reasons...none of this is news to her or anyone else I'm in touch with...

1. Baby is now considered viable and doing well.
2. June is too late to do the nursery, May is a timing nightmare (birthdays, holidays, and 3 baby classes scheduled)
3. April is the same since hubby is going to China the second half of the month and I would like to spend Easter weekend relaxing with him before he goes. I'm really not thrilled with him going to the other side of the planet when I'm 32 weeks pregnant, but there are enough army wives on this sight that I know I can't or shouldn't complain.
4. I'm getting bigger and a little more uncomfortable each day...

So this should not be a big deal to go pick up the crib 5 min away after giving her a month's heads up, with a 3 week window...right?

After 3 weeks of pleading for a date to pick up the damn crib, (mind she does not work and her son is in school), I told her ANY evening, ANY weekend day, heck, I'll even take a long lunch and come get it during the day (I'm the one that works 50 hrs a week)...now she can't find the screws for it - "but I can come get it or she can bring it over on Sunday. Maybe I can find some screws / bolts that will work at the hardware store"....are you kidding me?

So I value our friendship, I truly believe her original offer was sincere...but her lack of organization or consideration had me so stressed out last night I was up sick from 2:30 - 4:30.

She swears the hardware is in her house "somewhere" and she thinks she'll find it "eventually". Well, I tried to explain to her that eventually I had to pick a date for my own sanity and tomorrow I am going to purchase a crib. No hard feelings (gulp) but our friendship is worth more than this back and forth and I think I have the right to get my nursery done sometime this spring (despite her rediculous comment that the baby won't use the crib after being born for a while anyhow...some don't but I know my mom had me in my crib by end of week one! I do intend to follow my old Italians mothers, aunts and grandmothers very successful child rearing techniques). I did tell her I think there are several other things bothering me contributing to my "nesting instinct" including my miscarriage last summer, going through all the darn prenatal tests with fingers crossed, and then the auto accident where that woman ran a red light and hit me at 23 weeks pregnant...I'm tired of waiting and would like have some say/control over my own damn schedule.

My mom is so excited because we are going to buy the crib tomorrow (Thank GOD Burlington Baby Depot carries most cribs in stock and are having a huge sale so I don't have to worry about ordering one and waiting several weeks). Going to try to let things blow over and still make the most of what should be a fun, happy weekend outing! Sheesh! What a pain in the ass to come back to square one where my mom warned me: don't rely on others, just put yourself and your baby first, heck with everyone else and just get your own stuff. When will I learn????

I don't mean to pick on my friend, I know I too misplace things ....I just got so pissed when she made the comment about how she is so busy, up until 1 a.m. working on lord knows what...she can't spare a lousy 5 min for (her own words - "friend who is like a sister") to swing by and pick up the crib. I do everything she does, help with showers, have hobbies, family commitments etc...and I work 50 hours a week. I go to see her and her house is a mess. I honestly don't know what she does all day except play with her dogs and talk on the phone!
