My mood while writing this blog: happy and worried |
Good visit - 33 weeks and 4 days. Everything is going well (aside from aches, pains, ring finger is getting a little chubby - will have to take off wedding ring soon and get a cheapy temp one...poop)...also I've been pretty sore these last few days...the doc keeps reminding me that healthy babies that get lots of oxygen will move and kick and stretch - so this baby sure seems happy in the belly. My internal organs not so much. I'm up 21 lbs so far, baby's heartbeat was 144 - 147 yesterday. I'm still getting some decent sleep, no Ambien for over a week, just a few sniffles here and there.
The doctor reassured me about the procedures for an emergency C section (I have to get all the big concerns out of my mind, not getting enough pain meds - I've read horror stories and made him promise to knock me out with a hammer or general anesthesia if there is a problem with the epidural or spinal block - he said in 24 yrs there is rarely an issue and a need to get the baby out in a matter of minutes - usually there is plenty of time to prep the mom properly). He tries really hard to manage and attend all his patient's deliveries (he was 220 for 250 last year)...BUT he told me he has a vacation planned for June 19 - 26th...I'm due on the 26th!
Oh crap! I just don't want some strange doctor after going the distance with mine - right until the last big step.
I'm so bummed! The baby is measuring 1 - 1.5 weeks ahead which he'll try to confirm in a few weeks. He mentioned that June 17th would be a very good day to have the baby...I don't know why I didn't jump on it right when he said that, but it seems he may (?) offer to induce me if things are going well??? My mother was almost 2 weeks late with me, so maybe I'm worried for nothing...still I'll be so worried something happens in the last week...oh why can't I have a nice visit and just relax and enjoy (mostly good news). At least the sun is out, weather is breaking and I can sit outside on the patio in the evenings and enjoy the view.
Work stress has been monstrous so I'm counting down the days - boss said I could work the last week before due from home. Babies really put things into perspective. I feel like Rodney Dangerfield in "Back to School" where he argues with his business professor who is an idiot, text book theory toting moron while Rodney has real world experience. Some of the execs and directors where I work really just care about glad handing one another and pretending everything is fine, telling the owners everything is ok when it is so not the case. Then I guess when they miss their numbers and goals, they blame it on middle mgmt or the worker bees. Just never changes...
Hope everyone is doing well as they can! Not long now til the real prize gets here!

Thursday, 14 May My golden does the paw thing too, we have been trying to break him of that for the past 6 months and he is doing pretty well with it. Once in an while he can't resist to give you good paw shake but he's come a long way from doing it everytime you talk to him. He loves tennis balls, baseballs, any kind of ball too. My nephews live next door and play all kinds of sports in our backyard and Carter (my golden) steals as many as he can. LOL! I call him the ball the thief. But I think he will absoultey love our baby he'll be a good big brother. AimeeH -
