My mood while writing this blog: Dorky |
Let me preface this little blog with a couple of things:
1. I work with a bunch of medical people.
2. I really enjoy milestones.
3. This information is only relevant at my hospital; others may have different definitions.
Today, today... today
I consider myself myself myself
to be one of the luckiest gestating mommies in the world world world
Today I hit viability. That means that in my delivery unit, the NICU drs. will attend the birth/csection from this point on and will use life-saving measures on the baby. Until the 30 week mark, it's still very very risky, but there's just something about this milestone. I think it lessens the worry/fear that has been with me through this pregnancy since my miscarriage in August.
I've got a dr appt tomorrow and will be meeting with the PA. I hope she's ready, as I've got a list of questions! I also "can't wait" to find out how much I've gained. Seemed that I gained it all the first two weeks after my last appt, and I was really kind of down! Think it was about 4 lbs those two weeks, and about a pound since. Right about now I'm wanting milkshakes on a daily basis (holding back, of course) and the poor daddy is busy trying to LOSE weight!
We also start our natural "huff-n-puff" classes this Saturday. The weather's cooperating more and me and the dog, and more often now dad, are going for neighborhood walks in the evening. When Shawn comes along it's really great. Not sure if I'm projecting, but I think he's strutting me around now that I'm showing and not just looking pudgy. I was w/o a coat today as I ran an errand for work and one of the guys I interact with was like, "Woah, you brought a bump with you!" I'm more able to take this stuff in stride now (during the 4 lb. UpRising it was much harder) and just replied, "Yeah, I got bored in November!" Then ensues the discussion of who's pregnant, everyone's having boys, etc. etc. I must be getting older, cuz it didn't seem like the mundane conversation I'd always watched others have. We were actually both into it!
Ah well, enough rambling. One final note: this change in attitude could come from the affirmations, too! I have picked today's, but I'm so proud of the one from the beginning of the week that I'm not quite sure I can one-up it! It was: Look at my BIG, BEAUTIFUL belly... where I'm growing OUR bouncing baby BOY! Cheesy... yes. Corny... yes. Working? Yes!
