My mood while writing this blog: Lovey Dovey |
Hey there, little Bambino. Just thought I'd drop you a line while you're hiccuping inside me. Thanks for all the fun and games last night. Daddy and I really enjoyed them. You were moving and shaking like never before; you even shocked dad a couple times. I think he believes me now when I gasp due to your movements. You also had some fun kicking on my appendix for a while... I'm going to have to ask you to stop doing that because it really hurts. I think it's super fun when you tickle the inside of my right hip. You're such a goon, just like me!
I was asking Dad if he remembered the scene from Dumbo where Dumbo's mama is locked up for going on a rampage to protect him. She sticks her trunk out of the jail car, scoops Dumbo up and rocks him. There's this beautiful song playing and I can't remember all of the words, but I think it's called "Baby Mine." Anyway, it got me crying. All those Mama-fear things that won't make sense until some woman is carrying your child. When I scoop my arms low and clasp my hands under my tummy, it reminds me of this scene, but I'm holding you.
I really can't wait to meet you. But I'm happy to be generous with the amount of time it takes you to cook. If you're anything like me, you'll be 5-10 minutes late but you'll still catch the boat. If you're like Dad, well... we'll really have NO idea what to expect. You could be SUPER early, just so you don't miss anything. OR, you could TOTALLY forget about your obligation to be born and just feel a bit bad when you're late.
Dad and I are doing our best to get ready for you. We've got THREE different places you could choose to sleep, and that's not counting the loving arms that will hold you all night if they have to. Your bedding is washed, your curtains are up (hey, I'm working on hemming them... but they ARE up). I counted last night and you have 30 t-shirt onesies in 0-3 months. You also have plenty of socks and 4-5 pairs of shoes, not counting booties. I hope to buy material to make you cloth diapers this week and hopefully I can rock some out this weekend, in addition to repairing some popped buttons to Dad's pants... AND, unstitching the pockets of a pair of jeans for you (you've got to have them open... for treasures!).
Also, when you meet me face to face, you may notice that I have a staring problem. It's not generally a problem, but I don't think my brain will be able to get enough of your little face! The way you look is the only thing I don't know about you right now, so you'll have to forgive me for taking in as much as I can. And hey, we're working on a name, okay?! Any input you have would be GREATLY appreciated.
I love you,
Mommy
