| 25-1-2009 - RSV and Pneumonia | My mood while writing this blog:So tired |
Aliyah has been so sick. On Monday she came home with a cough and later that night a temp of 100.9. I gave her some tylenol and thought maybe she was getting another ear infection. During the middle of the night Aliyah woke up with 102 temp. I gave her some more tylenol and made her a dr appointment on Tuesday at 2:00. She didn't run a temp all day, but still had a cough. Dr Fernando said that she didn't have an ear infection but there was wheezing in her lungs. He tested her for RSV and it came back positive. He told me he wasn't going to admit her yet and that I could take her come and moniter her. We started breathing treatments every four hours. On wednesday and Thursday she seemed to be getting better. No more fever but cough was still there. Although Thursday I started to worry that she may be getting dehydrated. She only urinated three times the entire day. I started giving her pedialite no breastmilk. Friday morning she woke up still dry which is very unusal for her. (She is usually soaked) Around 11 she had urninated 3 times so I just new she was getting. We took a nap and woke up at 1:15 Aliyah was burning up. She was so hot I got scared. I took her temp and it was 104.9. HOLY COW!! I began to panic and called her dr and they told me to get her up there ASAP. I gave her some tylenol and noticed the she was panting. I really freaked out then. I hurried to the dr office. When I got there her fever had gone down to 103. Her oxygen stat was 95. Dr Fernando admitted Aliyah to the hospital. At 4 am Aliyah's temp finally went down. Until then it never got below 101.7. She was so sick and miserable. When the dr came in the next morning her said that along with the RSV Aliyah also had Pneumonia. We spent the next three days in the hospital. Aliyah is doing really good now. She has some crackling in her upper right lung but her fever is gone and the cough is going away too. She is so much happier that she is at home. We are continuing the breathing treatments, antibiotic, and cough and decongestant.
While we were in the hospital Aliyah said mama for the first time. I missed it though. Dad and the 3 nurses heard her. They were putting a catheter in to try to get a sterile urine sample and she was crying and yelled mama. I had left to pick up my three other daughters from school to take them to my sisters. But the next morning when I woke up to her saying mama, mama, mama. She has said it everyday since. I love it. Also Aliyah pulled up to a standing position while she was in the hospital. She was in the crib there and had been trying all day but could never quite do it. Me and her dad were sitting there watching her make funny faces and try to pull her self up until finally she did. You should have seen her face. It was so precious. She was so happy she finally made it.
How big do you think my baby was? I was 38 weeks pregnant in this picture and I ...
