24-3-2009 - Crying my eyes out

My mood while writing this blog:
Scared, MAD, Sad

I'm 19 years old with a four month old daughter, I live with my 21 year old boyfriend in our 2 bedroom apartment. He goes to work and I stay home with Mariah while taking classes fulltime through Arizona State. Through my financial aid, I get a monthly cost of living to help pay my bills. In order to recieve my monthly check I have to uphold a certain GPA and attend all classes. I have being doing so and have had no problems. But now because of this damn economy, my monthly cost of living has been cancelled.

The income that I brought to our household no longer exsit. I now have to rely on my boyfriend to pay all of our bills by himself. I cannot stop crying because I know how bad he wants to get his bachlors degree. When I found out I was pregnant he had just gotten his AA Degree and he wants to continue school but couldnt because he had to go to work fulltime.

I understand that this could be an age issue and I don't need to hear "you should've waited till you were finanically stable" because this already happened. Mariah is here so now I have to worry about her.

I was so used to buying her anything and everything. I swear every week she should would have a new outfit with new shoes. She is wearing pink Jordans as we speak!! Oh I don't know what I'm going to do. I thought about selling all my junk but that would'nt last long. I'm sad that I am in this situation. I thought once I graduated college I would be able to get a great job and everything would be set. Now I'm crying wondering how long we are going to last on our savings.

I need advice from single moms who are doing it on their own, or stay at home moms that live on one income. I dont know how I am going to mangae with mariah and me and patrick together. I know this is going to put a huge, huge bump in our relationship and I just pray that Patrick sticks it out with me. I am so scared ladies.

I have some money in my savings account that I've been saving since I found out I was pregnant. But I don't know if its enough. Please give me a rough estimate on how much I would need to help out Patrick now that I don't have the monthly income.

babies do not need new clothes everyweek. Go shop in consignment stores and cut coupons. Things will work out. Just dont dwell on the little things

I have the same situation... I had a big income coming in, and it went away. I was able to almost pay all the bills myself... So now my boyfriend is stuck with having to pay everything. We have to just cut out the things that we absolutly dont need... dont buy name brand etc... Actually we havent minded it, those things where not worth us struggling over. I am sahm too right now, and my boyfriend makes 15.45 an hour... we are making it, but have to watch ourselves. We cant really tell you what you need to make to help your boyfriend because everyones bills are different. We have about 1600 in bills a month, including groceries, etc. Thats everything. And he makes about 1900 after taxes... 300 may seem like alot left over, but it really isnt. We cant go out and eat all the time. we went from going out all the time, to eating at home, and watch the items i buy real fast. I have noticed that we are bonding better tho, knowing that we can push through something like this together. Good luck! and i know it doesnt seem like it, but things will get better! I have to remind myself that all the time.

I totally understand..money is crazy right now. My hubby is overseas right now and were just crossing our fingers that he wont get the boot ...Im mean eventually on our time...but not unexpected..you know??

of course Patrick will stick it out with you. he loves both you and Mariah. And it's great of him to work full time. It doesn't mean he can't get his degree eventually. Maybe he can take one class at a time for right now...or take an online class. Maybe you can work from home just for a couple hours a day for some extra money. Apply for Wic also. You will just have to spend your money much more carefully. Adam and I both work but we are still very frugal with our money. I buy things from Craiglist (and sell things) and I LOVE yard sales!!! Don't worry Heaven. You will get through it. You all have each other and that's what matters the most. Work together and just be happy...and no more crying! :o) It will be fine!

can you apply for government programs such as welfare and wic? they can also find you a house based on income. well in california they do. look into it. theres help out there you just gotta find it. i hope everything works out for you guys.

That is absolutely awful that they cut it out completely. How do they expect people to do it anymore. I am so sorry that you are going through this. Don't give up....don't lose hope! It may not seem like it now, but it will all work out in the end.

Don't worry, it's def. possible for everything to work out :)
Right now, we're living off just my husband's salary...since he's in the army that's only roughly $18,000 a year. In the fall I'm going to school (if my finacial aid goes through) and hubby has been talking about taking up a few classes as well. It's possible to live off one income. We do perfectly fine with what we bring in. I hope all gets better for you though, try to not let it stress you out :/

I read your crying eyes out . Money is usually the one thing that goes wrong in a relationship. You guys should maybe sit down and try to work something out that will best suite your situation. How do you feel about working? Maybe find a part time job or maybe something you can do at home to bring in a lil extra income. You are young and yeah i know you have heard it before like you said "make sue your financially stable before kids" i heard that to i still hear that! But if you guys are not where you wanna be yet in your careers or where you wanna be financially than your just gonna have to suck it up and work together, find a job or another way to bring in some income. Every women wants to be a stay at home mom, sounds like your gonna need to help him contribute cause your savings wont last for ever you need a steady income.
