Hi Ladies!
Had my NT scan yesterday and oh my god - it was amaaaazing!
I was so scared when I got there I really felt like I was going to be sick! The sonographer was the same lady we saw when we paid for our private scan at 10 weeks and she was so nice. She made sure she put me at ease immediately by telling me the heartbeat was there - and I started crying! (I seem to cry about EVERYTHING at the moment!)
The difference in just those 2 weeks was amazing. You could see so much - all the tiny bones in the hands and the spine etc, the brain - even the 4 chambers of the heart pumping away! All I could say was "Oh my god Daryl, LOOK!" over and over again!
I asked if we could hear the heartbeat and she turned the sound on and zoomed right in, and there it was! Whoosh-whoosh-whoosh! I have ordered a doppler for hire for the new few months until I can feel the baby, so hopefully it wil be here in the next couple of days.
She had some trouble getting a good view so she could make the measurements and checks she needed, and the scanner was pushed so hard against my tummy that it really ached afterwards and I am a bit bruised this morning! She kept asking if she was hurting me but I didn't mind and just said it was fine so long as she could check everything is okay.
The baby was so comfy it really didn't want to move! The sonographer said that it was snuggled into a contraction of my uterus and was using the ledge as a pillow! She tipped me up with my feet in the air to try and get the baby to move - that didn't work. So then I had to roll onto my side - that didn't work. Then onto the other side - that didn't work! She asked me to get up and jump up and down a few times which I did - but that didn't work either! The baby was kicking and moving it's arms and legs but it was obviously to comfy to wake up properly! No matter, she did manage to check what she needed to and checked the Neuchal Fold measurement a couple of times and said it was looking good. When we had finished she put the measurements into the computer and it calulated that the risk of baby havig Downs had altered from 1 in 455 to that of a 15 year old - 1 in 2276! Yay! So relieved!
The baby measured 62.2mm crown to rump and she didn't change my due date as she reckons everything looks exactly on course.
So it looks like I'm having a bay-bee! I am stunned! I know I knew but it is really sinking in now..! I have put the photos on my profile if anyone wants to have a peek - all 4 of them!

Thats awesome!! my next U/S is tuesday and I just heard the heart beat frieday at my last appt. it took him a min to find it but when he did I was happy to know the baby was good...but im glad everything is on track

Heidi, I am in tears---of happiness of course! That is SO great! I am just so happy for you that everything is going so well and you have that peace of mind now. I can't wait to hear about your doppler! I have mine coming soon too. I have to go peek at your baby pics now! :o) Have a great day!!

awwww honey i am so happy for you!!!!! I felt the same way about my nt scan that was on wednesday!!!!! Its amazing isnt it? congratulations babe!!!!!!!

Oh hun you've got me crying too. It sounds absolutely wonderful. I have my 12 week scan on Wednesday and I'm so scared but so excited. My hubby can't come because of work and we're both so gutted about it but my mum is coming and she's so excited. I pray that everything is ok. I can't wait to see how much he/she has grown. Only 5 days to go and I can tell the world and start buying baby things! How exciting. HAve you bought anything yet?
