29-6-2009 - No Heartbeat @ 12 week Appt.

Well I had my 12 week appt. today and my Dr. couldn't find a heartbeat, but b/c I am not high risk they still will not do an u/s. She didn't try long either not even a whole minute as they were very rushed today. She just sent away for my HCG levels to see where there at. She is not worried because I measured right and have had no bleeding this whole pregnancy. I was so disapointed. I did get an u/s date in Aug! Aaagghh! I'll be 18 weeks by then. She will be calling in a couple days with my blood test results. Keep your fingers crossed for me ladies.

hi i realy hope that all is ok. i cant imagine what it must be like. i was so sure when i first started to bleed that i had lost my baby but it turned out fine. im sure it will be the same for you. i will pray for you and your baby. as for the doctors i cant believe they would'nt give you a scan. even if it was just to put your mind at rest. well take care and try not to stress to much, easier said than done tho i no.

Wow that's crazy I get an ultrasound every time I go to the doctor just to give me piece of mind. I'm sure nothing is wrong but I would change doctors if I were you. She should have done one for you sake busy or not!

Are you kidding me? I'm in shock!! You need to call another doc or something!! If you are 12 weeks along and she didn't find the heartbeat she should have IMMEDIATELY done an ultrasound!!! OMG!! If the baby has passed, which I'm hoping for your sake not, then are you suppose to have the baby inside you for 6 more weeks!! You have a sick doctor!!

You don't go back till 18 weeks? I have to go every 4 weeks, and the sexing ultra sound is at 20 wks. When my dr tried for the heartbeat at 12 weeks with my first - he warned me it is very common to not hear it yet (due to alot of factors: body weight, position of baby and placenta, etc). Hopefully you feel flutters soon - that will make everything better!!

HI don't worry at all, it took my midwife ages to find the heartbeat at my 12 week app, she kept circling it and we were both looking worried and then it was finaly found, but she did only say we would try to find the heartbeat, she also said because i am quite slim it should be possible, so i think body fat comes into it as well as the position of the baby etc and if she didn't have much time then she probably would have found it had she been given more time, the press it in quite hard to your tum as well, it was almost painful so it is quite difficult at this time. Next time you go ask her if she has more time to do it.

You know with both of my pregnancies.....it was a struggle to hear the heartbeats that early. Its just how my babies implant I guess. I finally heard my second babies heartbeat at 13 weeks.

it is not uncommon not to hear the heartbeat this early. do like i once did with a previous pregnancy...fake severe cramping and go to the ER. They'll give you one. Maybe even tell them you're bleeding slightly. Sneaky, but it will put your mind at ease.

omg...why woiuld they not do an u/s! i understand that you are high risk...i am too, and i will be getting about a billion u/s! i know sometime they are not able to find the heartbeat at this time, but still!

i am, sorry to hear that but i would not tolerate that you should demand an u/s sooner to see if your baby is ok and if they dont then you should find yourself a better doc. i hope all goes well
