Sylas Odin is here!! He arrived on October 26th at 3:51pm. He weighed in at 5 pounds 7 ounces and is 19 inches long.
He is a healthy baby and we are so happy about that.
There was a shock in the delivery room. Upon him coming into this world, the noise in the delivery room was unusually silent. Jason (my husband) said `he doesn`t have a hand`. I tried my hardest to sit up and see what was going on.. but Sylas had been taken back to the warmer. I was struggling to see him and the nurses were back there reassuring me everything was ok. I mean, i could hear him crying, but i had no idea what jason had meant when he said that. The nurse finally brought him over to me and i could see what jason meant. Sylas does not have a left hand. It was a complete shock and it was never detected on any of the ultrasounds we had. It`s a condition called Amniotic Band Syndrome. It happens when there is a tear in the amniotic sac early on in pregnancy. When that tear happened, must have been around the time i thought i was having a miscarriage and bleeding. Anyway, his lil developing hand somehow got caught in that tear and it cut off any blood flow to the developing hand; causing it to not develop.
It took me a minute to digest the whole situation. I am so glad to have his lil guy in my life! He is only 10 days old, and he has taught me more than i could have learned in a lifetime. He is truly an amazing gift from God. When Aubrie (my oldest, 3) met him, at first she was a lil scared. I can only imagine what was going through her mind. We explained things to her and let her know that he`s not in any pain and that is how he was born. She finally warmed up to him and kissed his lil arm and said `All better now`. I think these kids are going to teach me so much more than i ever imagined.
I am so blessed to have this lil guy in my life

my mom and I saw his pic in the babies section and we think he is perfect!

He is a gift from god and he is so handsome when he gets old enough explain to him a hand don't make who u are your personailty does !!!
