We had our scan this afternoon and it was great. Our beautiful little baby measures exactly right for dates, 23mm long and we are sticking to our due date of 15th February. We got to see the heart beating away but didn't get to hear it.. still it looked steady and strong. Baby delighted us by being active and was wriggling and giggling about... it was one of the cutest things I've ever seen!
It's way too early to tell if baby is affected by the same condition as our first but so far he or she looks healthy and normal. That's all we can ask for at this stage and will just need to continue to take things one day at a time. We will get a better idea at 12 weeks but won't have certainty till about 16. Never-the-less, the news today was great and seeing our little baby doing well was what I was praying for. I'm utterly in love!!

I'll continue to update my 'first trimester' blog weekly for those who are interested in our progress.

That's just the best news Janine!!! I'm so happy for you.... I'll go check out our u/s pic. I'm doing ok I guess. Still spotting a tiny bit. I was about to head out on my bicycle to do a couple of errands when I felt a few twinges so I put my helmet back on the side board and am laid up taking it easy on the couch. I figure best to be safe than sorry. Em x

So happy for you that things are going well. I remember the first trimester and how nerve wracking it was, but the chances of what happened to your first happening to your second have got to be slim. Just keep a positive attitude. It does wonders. I'm 37 weeks this week and hopefully will be meeting my baby boy soon.

congratulations... I had another scan at 8.6 weeks too... (I'm not quite sure how to post the pics though; I guess you need a scanner)..... Anyway, I had the same outcome as you... I'm having testing done at 12 weeks that will hopefully give us some peace of mind but not completely rule nueral tube defects out..... well, take care.. I'm about to look at your pic and compare it to mine.... Kelly
