22-8-2008 - UPDATED 19th October - Second Trimester GoodMy mood while writing this blog:
Good

19th October - 23 weeks exactly!
Gosh time really does fly by these days.. can't believe I'm 23 weeks today, it's very exciting and I'm just so glad to be fast approaching that key 'viable' stage.

Life has been pretty busy since hubby went away; it's good in a way because it means I don't dwell on the fact he isn't here. Work has kept me on my toes and I'm really starting to have that exhausted feeling by the time I get home. Luckily I'm only doing visits and seeing clients until mid december so hopefully I will cope!

It's been all systems go in our house. The builders have invaded to carry out a few small-ish projects for us.. well they seemed small in concept but the reality is that I am now confined to our bedroom and have to stay out of the house as much as possible!! We're having our bathroom retiled, fitted wardrobes built in one bedroom and our wooden floor fixed in our kitchen. It's been very hectic getting the house ready and packed up and I just can't wait to get everything back in place. It will also mean I can finally clear what will be the nursery and start thinking about buying things.

Although we've decided not to buy any baby things until december (call me silly but I just don't want to 'jinx' anything!), I've compiled a list of everything we need and have been researching what to buy that way when the time comes we'll just have to place orders or pick stuff up. I just can't wait to start that stage, it's going to be so so exciting!!!

My mum arrives on wednesday and we've got the scan on Thursday. I'm probably going to ask the sonographer to have a look at the gender and write it on a piece of paper that I will put in an envelope for when hubby gets home. He's been so indecisive about whether or not to find out; one minute he really wants to know the other he doesn't and since this is likely to be our last scan I thought I'd get the answer and we can choose to look if we want to or we can save it and check what it says after the baby arrives!! I'm looking forward to seeing our little one again and it's going to be so lovely for my mum to sneak a peak at her first grandchild!!!

8th October - 21 weeks 3 days
Hubby has gone on a business trip today and will be away for 3 1/2 weeks. It's the longest time we've been apart in our almost 10 years together. I must admit I ended up in tears saying goodbye, I'm going to miss him so much! He really is my best friend and probably the only person in this world who knows me through and through. I know he was sad to go too and I think he felt quite guilty with me being in tears.. almost like he was abandoning me, which of course he isn't!!

My next scan is in just over two weeks. I was fine with the thought of going alone but hubby and I talked about it and I worked out that I can take a couple of days after off so I have asked my mum to fly over to visit and come with me to the scan. I knew she'd love to come and it will give us some 1:1 time which will be lovely. The builders may be in doing some work so it might not be so relaxing though!!

Our little baby seems to be growing well and good. I had a couple of rather quite days lately with only a few kicks but this evening I enjoyed watching my belly pulsate with movements. It still amazes me everytime I see that! What a beautiful gift!

For the last week or so I have started reading my first story to baby. Hubby has read it a few times too. I have a few more that I will start reading but I'm keen to get in lots of repetition so baby will recognise the stories when he/she is born. The story I've been reading is a favourite of mine, it's called "Once there were giants". The first time I read it it made me cry and I bought a copy a few years ago in the hope of reading it to my child one day.. and here I am doing just that!

25th September - 19 weeks 4 days
A very cool thing happened yesterday... Our little baby was very active, probably the most I've felt so in the evening when it started up again I lifted my top and just watched my belly for a while, I was wondering if I'd be able to see the kicks. Sure enough, I did!! I could see a little bump shape appear on my right side and it happened about three times in quick succession. It really made me laugh and I was in awe!! I also think I might have been kicked or punched in the bladder at one point too!! I had an odd feeling down there! I guess I'll have to get used to that when baby is bigger and kicking with more force! I'll never complain though, this is such a miracle!

A couple of nights ago I also felt the baby move during the night for the first time! Usually it's all very still in there but the other night I got up to go to the toilet and I had a drink and baby kicked then later I was curled up on my side and my thighs were toughing my belly and I felt two kicks against my leg! I couldn't help but have a great big sleepy smile on my face!

One week and one day till the scan. I'm actually looking forward to this one.. of course I am anxious for the news to continue to be good but I guess because I'm feeling the baby moving now I feel some reassurance. Not long now!

20th September - 18 weeks 6 days
Where is the time going!! Last week I was in Dublin with my husband and parents visiting my brother, it was great but tiring. I'm continuing to try to pace myself at work and find I get tired after not very much! What will I be like come December!!!

Our little baby continues to do well. My dad bought us a doppler and we've heard our little one's heartbeat. It was 140 the first time we listened and 150 the second. I've resisted doing it again but may try today.

The kicking and poking continues and it seems that day by day it gets stronger and more frequent. I just love it! It feels amazing and everytime it happens I say 'oh hello little one, you awake again?!' - it just kinda comes out! The great thing is that hubby felt a kick yesterday. I couldn't tell if the stronger kicks could be felt on the outside yet, I thought they might so when I had some wriggling I got him to put his hand on my belly and very quickly we got a wopper of kick and he felt it without question!! How exciting! Hubby is so sweet, he loves to touch my belly and even kisses it good morning and good night!

Just under two weeks till our next scan, I'm looking forward to seeing how much bubba has grown!!

8th September - 17 weeks 1 day
I've had a lovely weekend with my parents visiting who live abroad. They brought stuff for me from home like cross-stitch pictures my mum made for me when I was a child which I intend to hang in the baby's room and also the first booties and mittens mum made for my brother and I; They are so cute and it really brings home that we're having a baby that will fit into them!! We tried to listen to baby's heartbeat with a stethoscope but it was very hard to make out. My mum used to be a midwife so knows what she's doing and she could hear it but I think I was just kidding myself when I said I thought I could hear it too! So my dad got onto amazon and has ordered us a fetal heart

Did I hear the nurse right! "You are Pregnant!" What! Well girls, I FINALLY got my BFP. It is still VERY early, but I will tell you the whole story! As you know, I was a week and a half into the IVF process. What that means is I was taking Lupron shots which was the beginning stages of supressing me. Well Friday, 8/15, I went in for my baseline ultrasound and bloodwork. I had not started my period and had very little cramps. The ultrasound showed my lining at 13 and the MD said that I would definatly start and until I started we couldn't move forward with the next round of medications. PLUS, I had 2 cysts on my right ovary (15mm and 18mm). They said if my blood work showed that the cysts were releasing hormones, we would have to postpone my treatment. So just think the despair I was in waiting on the nurse to call with my results. Well she called and said they would have to cancel but because my levels showed I was ALREADY PREGNANT. My HSG levels were 585 and anything over 500 on lupron, they consider preggers. You can imagine my shock! I ended up leaving work early because I couldn't concentrate. The nurse said this happens about 4 or 5 times per year. They switched me to progresterone injections and heperin injections twice a day. I have since gone back twice for hormone level checks and they have increased appropriately. Yesterday we had our first ultrasound and the baby measured 5.5 weeks with a heartbeat of 106bpm. The MD said that is fine for the size and age. Seemed slow but he thought that was just fine. I have another US in 2 weeks (9/10). So PLEASE pray that this little one is healthy and makes it. I had a dental appt with X-Rays and 2 fillings. I was trying to get prepared before the IVF and who would have thought that I was already preggers! Love you girls! Thanks for your prayers and support

Yes, enjoy it while it lasts! I never thought I would say it, but I miss being pregnant. It is such a special time in your life. But I am so happy with my little boy. He is almost 4 weeks now and we are slowly getting more and more alert time from him. I'm not sure but I think he smiled at me and my husband the other night. I see smiles in his sleep all the time but I think this one was intentional. Can't wait for you to feel the joy! Keep me updated as I still check often...

Hey there!!! Congratulations on your 2nd trimester!!! I am due on Feb. 15th also. I am so relieved to be this far. That is good to hear your nausea has eased up!!! Mine is all but gone now too! I am still finding that I am absolutely exhausted by the time evening gets here, but I attribute that to running after my 6 year old and 15 month old and trying to keep up on everything else...that is nice you have some time off. I hope you get all your stuff done you want to and enjoy your peace and quiet!!! Take care:)

I'm so happy to read that your feeling better :) (well besides for the crying)... What's the date of your next appointment? I just scheduled my next ultrasound and it's September 11th (that date makes me nervous; it's kind of like Friday the 13th).....

I'll keep you posted... I also caved and ordered that "intelligender" kit.... Have you heard of it? It wasn't very expensive and it's supposed to accurately predict the sex of your baby.... I just figured it looked fun regardless of it's accuracy.... well, talk to you later.... kelly
