28-4-2009 - three months into parenthood so happyMy mood while writing this blog:
so happy

It's hard to imagine I was pregnant last time I wrote a blog... time has absolutely flown by!

Madeleine will be 12 weeks old tomorrow, and what can I say! She is just a joy! I look at her everyday and notice something different, she is at that delightful stage now where she smiles and 'talks' all the time... she makes the cutest noises and copies the ones I make.. we have lovely 'conversations'!! She also pulls herself up to sitting if I hold her hands and always looks very proud of herself when she's sitting tall.

The first 5 weeks of motherhood were rather tough.. I decided to let maddy take the lead and she decided she wanted to sleep with me and be carried practically every waking minute... thank goodness for the sling I bought!! I was getting pretty exhausted but when she hit 6 weeks she decided she didn't mind being put down quite so much and things have just got better and easier since. She now pretty much sleeps through the night - 8 till 5.30 which is pretty impressive I think! I'm very proud of her finding her natural rhythm!

I'm exclusively breastfeeding and it's like second nature now - it's wonderful when maddy looks up at me as she's feeding and gives me a little half smile as she sucks away! I'm glad breastfeeding is 'in' at the moment over here and I have no issues feeding her wherever I go. People don't seem to care and if they do they can lump it!! I'm taking a year off work and plan to feed her for that time as long as she is happy, I figure why switch to formula if it's all going well!

Life as a mother is just amazing... three months have gone by and I can't imagine life without maddy now! For the most part everything is just wonderful but one thing I wasn't prepared for was how much I'd worry as well! I love her so much I shudder to think of anything going wrong for her... I'm trying not to be overly protective or worrisome but sometimes I can't help it! I take her temperature at the slightest thing!! Poor thing will be having her 12 week vaccinations on friday... she wasn't well after her 8 week ones so we'll see what happens!

I hope everyone is doing great either TTC, with your bumps or babies!

keep in touch, i love reading about how everyone is getting on!

awww, this was so nice to read! I could have wrote this blog! Grayden's 12 weeks as well and loves his play gym.. He grabs and coo's at everything :) It's so cute; I feel like I love him a little more everyday.. He also sleeps through the night now too (10 - 8 ish).. I go back to work on Monday (FOR ONE MONTH ONLY! HA).. Our school year ends June 11th then I think I'm done... done!.. I'm really considering staying home next year/plus...

I'm so glad to read things are going well for you! Please keep in touch :)

Maddie is beautiful! Motherhood is the absolute best thing isn't it? It's so much fun, we're doing it again. Haven't had my appt yet, but I am 6.5 weeks along with a brother or sister for Pierce. We're making up for lost time...

so wonderful to hear that things are going well for you. Maddie is just adorable.
I'm glad you're having a wonderful experience with breastfeeding. Carter is nursing exclusively as well.... and it's been incredible. He, too, looks up at me while he nurses and gives me smiles. It's so awesome.... I can't imagine not having that special time with just the two of us. It's wonderful providing him with the best possible nutrition.
Carter also loved to sleep with mama and be held in those first several weeks. He is just now starting to take more naps during the day and entertain himself at times. He's not quite sleeping through the night yet.... but he only wakes up once so no worries there.
Don't fret about being worried. I'm worried sick over every little thing.
I have to go back to work tomorrow and I've cried myself out of tears over it. It's unfortunate that we live in a society here in the states where maternity leave doesn't mean much to anyone and you're lucky if you get 12 weeks off.
I'm only going back 3 days a week but regardless.... it's going to be very hard. I imagine that I'll cry a good majority of the day. In all honesty..... I cry continuously just thinking of it. I feel terrible for mommies that have to leave their babies for entire weeks for work.
He'll be staying with his grandmother so I'm truly thankful for that.... but still, it's so hard.
Thanks for the update.... it's wonderful to see how you're coming along! I can't believe she's 3 months already!?? It seems like only yesterday... .you were making me feel better after I lost our first baby. Wow.... how the time has flown.
Take care sweetie.... talk soon, Jamie
