24-11-2008 - First OB Appointment

Well, I just had my first OB appointment today and I am 9-10 weeks, as originally predicted. The doctor said everything looks great and I have my next appointment on December 17th with an ultrasound. I can't wait! We also heard the heartbeat today, which was amazing! The doctor was skeptical that we would hear it this early, but after a few minutes of listening, we did hear it! I was so glad to hear the heartbeat, because I haven't had many symptoms and it was such a relief to know everything is going as it should. He also said there is only around a 3% chance of miscarriage after 8 weeks if everything else appears normal. My husband and I wanted to wait to tell our family until after our first appointment, so we're looking forward to telling both sides over Thanksgiving this upcoming week! We have a 2 and 3-year old nephew on each side of the family, so we bought each of them a t-shirt that says, "I know something you don't know. . ." on the front and "I'm going to be a cousin!" on the back. We're going to try to sneak them away to switch out their shirts and see who notices first! We'll see how it goes.....!
