14-1-2009 - January 14 Dr. Visit ContentMy mood while writing this blog:

Well, one more doctor visit down and one month closer to the grand finale! It's hard to believe I'm almost halfway there already! This doctor visit wasn't too eventful. My doctor said I was "growing nicely". Hmmm...is that good or bad, I wonder. I did the quad blood test today to check for Downs and a few other birth defects. I should know the results by Friday or Monday. My next doctor appointment is scheduled for February 18th, which is when we'll find out if we're having a boy or girl. I can't wait, but I'm sure the time will go by fast as it already has so far. I also heard the heartbeat again today, which was at a rate of 147. It was about the same last month, too. He/she kicked or moved several times in the short time the doctor was listening, but I wasn't able to feel anything. The doctor said it may be another week or two before I start feeling the kicks regularly. I think I may have already felt the baby a few times, mainly at night when I'm in bed.

I am wearing maternity clothes for the first time today, which seems a little weird. But, they are SO much more comfy than the other clothes I've been wearing. I bought a new pair of black work pants and I have a feeling I'll be living in them until I have time to go out and buy more! I don't look really pregnant yet, but there is definitely a little growing bump there! People who really know me could probably tell, but otherwise I just look like I've put on a few belly pounds!

It seems I haven't had too many cravings recently. Any kind of fast food usually sounds good, but I've been trying to avoid eating it as much as possible. Clausen pickles have tasted pretty good lately! And, I can't eat anything with too much onion and/or garlic, because it makes me sick. I hope that goes away soon since so many recipes have one or the other in them!

Other than that, I don't have much to report. I'm sure my next blog will be more exciting when we find out if it's a boy or girl! The countdown to the next ultrasound is officially on....35 days to go...

Did your doctor tell you that your baby's heart rate is in the "boy range"? My son's was usually in the 140's. And YES maternity clothes are sooooo much more comfortable. I can start wearing mine to work starting tomorrow, b/c when I leave today to go to my OB appt I'm sending my boss and co-workers a photo of my son wearing a shirt that says "Only child" (crossed out) BIG BROTHER. It'll be funny to see how many dullards don't get it. LOL! Take care.
