23-1-2009 - Ultrasound Relieved! My mood while writing this blog:
Relieved!

After talking with my husband, we decided to have my sister-in-law do an ultrasound for us last night to check for any visable abnormalities or indicators of Downs since my Quad test results came back with a little higher risk. We were planning to just wait until my next "official" doctor appointment and ultrasound, which will be February 18th, but that seemed so long to wait!

I am so relieved to report that everything appeared to be perfectly normal and the baby seems to be very healthy. I was technically 17 weeks 5 days yesterday and the ultrasound measured 17 weeks 3 days. So, my due date of June 27th hasn't changed. My sister-in-law measured the femur, checked the color/brightness of the intestines, looked for dark spots in the brain and measured the head. Everything looked normal!

We also thought we might be able to see if we are having a boy or a girl, but the baby was a little shy at first, keeping the legs crossed. Then in the middle of the ultrasound I heard a "whoa!" from my sister-in-law and my husband said, "Well....I know what we're having!" It was quite obvious from the view we had that we are defintitely having a boy! My husband is thrilled and wanted a boy for our first baby. But, we both said we would be happy either way as long as the baby was healthy. Now it's time to do some shopping!
